Hi. Hope everyone is coping in this freezing weather.

My GP has just taken me off Etoricoxib coz of the long-term use side-effects
and slapped me on Voltarol (sic?). How has anyone else been with this drug?

The Etoricoxib was the best NSAID I've ever been on and feel sad (sob!) to
have to come off it. Sniff. Any opinions/wealths of information gratefully
received!

Thanks!

Voltarol (or diclofenac) is like a lot of nsaids - it suits some people very
well and others not at all.  I tried it but the tummy effects on me were
horrible, but I know quite a few people who get on wonderfully with it.
Good luck with it.

Jayne Can't say about any side effects I am on it and it is doing my
knee problem a world of good . My doc advised me not to take to much
Voltarol has it has a nasty habit of pushing up the BP I was in agony
all day yesterday and for most of the night having taken only the
prescribed Parcetamol . Today the first thing I did was take a 25mil
Volarol followed by a second at lunchtime and now I am starting to be
able to walk again with very little pain . Going to take a third
before going to bed the doc did say 150 milligrams is the maximum
daily dose .
Sod the BP I would sooner die pain free if possible :))))))))))).

I have been taking voltarol retard for about 20 years ! My gut is
extremely sensitive to NSAIDs and this is the only one I can tolerate
(so far). I do have the occasional gut upset, but it usually clears in
a day or two if I stop the voltarol. As far as I can judge it doesn't
have an adverse effect of my BP.

What Jayne says is right. These drugs affect different people in
different ways. You just have to try and find one that suits you.

I guess it's horses for courses; I was on Voltarol initially and found
it useless, so have been on Naprosyn (3x500mg per day) for 15 years.
Unfortunately, all the NSAIDS (Voltarol Naprosyn etc) may have adverse
effects on your tum, but if you always take them with or after food,
it helps a lot.

I hope that it is effective for you; everyone reacts differently to
different drugs, so don't let my experience put you off.

Just one more thing - if you have or may have intestinal
conditions such as IBD (Crohns, Colitis .. ) then stay away
from NSAIDS altogether unless someone who knows about these
things explicitly tells you otherwise. In such cases they
can and do cause problems and serious ones at that.
