Last time I saw my RD, he said I could up my dose then to 10mg per week, and
go up to 12.5mg if I felt the need to.

I just phoned in my request this morning, and there was a message on my
phone when I got home from one of the GP's (not mine).  She was querying the
12.5mg dose I asked for.  Because the consultant's letter said the dose had
gone up to 10mg, she takes that as written in stone.  I explained that he
had given me the choice to go to 12.5mg, but apparently GP's aren't used to
that!  She even asked did I need to be taking such a toxic drug at all!

I told her to phone his rheumatology nurse if she didn't believe me, but I
need those tablets tomorrow whatever.

Doesn't it drive you nuts?

Shocking, like you have a choice, tell her to get to know her patients
with long term illness better!

I think GP's bedside manner went out of the same door that the
"ambulance chasing" culture came in, sadly. Along with that, every,
other medical worker seems to play dumb, rather than show insight of
the big picture, when it suits them.

Our local Doctors (husband and wife) have a great bedside manner.  We
do meet them socially and profesionally on a regular basis.

Living on a wee island isn't all bad!

Oh, my GP is fine, don't get me wrong.  He prescribes 3 different
painkillers for me, tells me the max of each and the max combined, and lets
me take what I want.  The other GP is very naturalistice (a few years ago I
fell down half the stairs and was so stiff I really could hardly move and
all she would let me have was homeopathic).

It just made my blood boil, thats all.  I feel better now.....

I can see Andy's reply post to you Jayne, but not your original post for
this item, though obviously I can see this post of yours. I seem to be
having problems with this a lot lately, but its very strange, so if I
ignore anyone, apologies.

No worries Heather - it must be maddening though, to keep missing stuff.  I
have pasted the original below:

She sounds either very careful, or a bit of a head case, perhaps she
thinks you really get a kick out of damaging your liver, and wanted to
do it faster!! Or more likely she didn't think at all, there's always
one in every surgery.

Good luck with it.
