I am curious to know does anyone else have a roaring sound like the ocean in
either one of your ears?
when I woke up with this tinntus 18 months ago I could really hear it, now I
can only hear it if I block my good ear, it is very loud and always there no
matter what, is this normal for T?

Let me rephrase that, The tinnitus  varies from ringing to whistling to
hissing to crickets
but the underlying roaring of the ocean never changes, the only time I can
hear it now is if I block my other ear and listen to the affected one.

I have it. It seems to be more common in cases of hydrops.

Meniere's-like conditions. Endolymph is one of the fluids in the inner ear.
When it is believed to be excessive, you are said to have endolymphatic
hydrops ("hydrops" is excess fluid anywhere). Meniere's is thought to be a
kind of idiopathic EH. But most cases are not Meniere's and may not involve
some of the Meniere's symptoms of episodic violent vertigo, ear fullness,
roaring tinnitus, and hearing loss.
