I have tinnitus since 4 years. It started after a to laud concert. In
the beginning it was there all the time.Nowadays it start most of the
time during the day after intensive nervous concentration
(reading, writing )when working.During weekends and vacation it is much
better and almost never there, allthough it sometimes suddenly starts
(reading, writing, driving). When it starts it is hard to stop, sometimes
the noise of running water in a sink stops it.Most of the time I have
to wait until the next day.The noise is in my head not in my ears (my
doctor does not believe this).I have the impression that my neck has
something to do with this(I have a constant pain there). My tinnitus
also starts every time I lay myself down(sleep, rest),even during
vacations.SOMEONE IDEAS WHAT MY PROBLEM IS ?

Hi Pierre,

We all have an idea what your problem is because we all have the same problem.

Tinnitus can and does intensify under stressfull conditions especially driving.

Running water (such as your sink) can mimick the sound of your tinnitus and
mask it temporarily. Since this seems to help you you may want to purcahsed a
small fountain (running water) for your nightstand or use it when your reading.

Your sensation that the noise is coming from your head and not your ears is
also commom. We can sense it in one ear, two ears and in our heads also.

Sometimes stress can hit us in the neck because of tightening muscles (I
guess). I would bet that's what's going on in your neck.

Tinnitus is a pain in the neck

I seem to have shared some of the features described above.  My
tinnitus is characterized by one good day followed by a bad day and
left ear ring by the right ear ring.  Lately, i have discovered that
the use of diurectic on a bad day seems to calm down the T a bit.  The
noise is till there but is _no longer_ associated with anxiety and
pressure. But be careful with the kind of diurectics you use.  Dyazide
used to cause my both ears ring.  Currently I am using Lasix but will
talk to my doctor about switching into the ones recommended by Murray
Grossan in this ng.
