I am new to this list. I've had tinnitus for about 4 years caused by
repeated exposure
to loud noise. The tinnitus seems to be getting louder every year. I haven't
seen any
discussion about masking devices. Has anyone had success with these?

Some people like maskers.  However, most do not.  There is a very high rate of
return for maskers......so be sure to get an agreement with the audiologist
about a generous trial period and a reasonable fee for 'trying' before you
order them.

Maskers seem to work better if you have hearing loss and are using a
combo-unit, with a hearing aid and a masker in 1 ear.

I hope you will let us know how it goes if you do decide to try one.

Don't offer to let the guy use your maskers, now.  We saw what
happened the last time you did that on the "blue board".

Nice touch Terri (or Mary). A perfectly good and useful thread going and
you, nobody else, tosses in the dirt.

Glad I could offer something worthy of your attention.   If you would
like more detailed information, I would be happy to provide it.

what she means, is information about dr nagler. I have redressed the balance
in this, and just talk about tinnitus now. I have not had any conflict with
him but know people have their reasons. If people want to implement their
"duty" to inform people about dr nagler, I can't stop them.

Can't.

I already lent them out to somebody else.

Dr. Nagler and MJ,

Thanks for the information. Terri, I don't know what you are talking
about and from the tone of your post I really don't care.

I tried hearing aids with masking noise.
It totally made my condition more annoying
