Inflammation and Tinnitus

Richard A. - 02 Mar 2004 01:02 GMT Hi, I'm fighting an ongoing battle with my tinnitus and have been steady at it for about a year and a half. I've reduced my primary battle strategy to fighting inflammation..in my ears, on my skin and anywhere and every where I can on my body. I also have stenosis (narrowing) of both ear canals. I had chronic ear infections several years ago, I'm 50 years old now. My main effort to reduce general inflammation in my body is by taking lots and lots of anti-oxidants and natural anti-inflammatories, omega 3 fish oil being the main one. A few good books on the subject are, The Inflammation Syndrome, The Omega Zone, The Inflammation Cure. Also a good source for high quality fish oil is www.drsears.com. The main reason I'm focusing on inflammation is I have used..and still am using a non-steroid anti-inflammatory prescription gel named Solaraze in my ear canals with q-tips. The maker of this drug doesn't say to use it in your ears, my doctors have not said to use it in my ears..I chose to do that on my own. The results have been astounding..my ear canal tissue is highly inflammed and it's taken months and months of off and on treatments to reduce it down..I haven't finished. The Solaraze is a new product used to treat pre-cancerous sun damaged skin, actnic keratoses. In addition to my ears, I also discovered my lips are highly inflammed. This is another place you're not suppose to use the Solaraze gel. In the process of treating my lips and reducing the inflammation load..my ear canals were sloughing off dead inflammed skin tissue. I also noticed that if I trace the inside of my mouth around the outer edges of my lips with my tongue, I can feel prominent small bumps. These bumps are apparently related to the inflammed lip condition. I'm going to keep on this strategy..fighting inflammation..and see how it pans out over time..I just wish I started much earlier..in my 30's or 40's. Hope this is of some use or interest to the group here. Cheers, Rich
ENTconsult - 02 Mar 2004 04:57 GMT Persons with your symptoms are often found to have a focus of infection - gums, dental, bladder, etc and the inflammation clears when that is taken care of. Murray Grossan, M.D. http://www.ent-consult.com
Richard A. - 03 Mar 2004 00:14 GMT Hi Murray, I don't seem to have any infection or disease problems with my teeth or gums, however I do develop a chronic whitish coating on my tongue. This is subsiding by me taking all the anti-oxidants and anti-inflammatories. The main source of out of kilter body tissue is my upper chest, throat, neck and face. Apparently skin damage from ultra-violet sun exposure over the years, even tho I worked mainly indoors. The damaged (mutated) skin has added to my total inflammation load, no doubt. I'm using emu oil on some spots now. There is a new blood test to determine the amount of total body inflammation, you can read about it here: http://www.drsears.com/drsearspages/bloodtestserv.jsp There is also another blood test called C Reactive Protein which may not be as informative. The effects on my tinnitus have not been a linear improvement. Overall my tinnitus is reducing and my hearing is improving, but I do get varibale ups and downs with the ringing. I'm going to keep trying to lower body inflammation and I'm definately seeing health improvements with this strategy, I'll have to wait it out and see how much good it does for the T. Cheers, Rich

Richard A. - 06 Mar 2004 14:52 GMT Hi Murray, Thank you for the advice, I will put the wheels in motion to see a rheumatologist. After looking around on the web it appears I may have systemic lupus erythematosus. An auto-immune inflammatory disease that can affect the skin and also cause tinnitus. If I do have it, I'm going to be flabergasted that slews of doctors over the years never thought to test for it. Cheers, Rich

> Murray Grossan, M.D. > http://www.ent-consult.com AJP - 06 Mar 2004 16:21 GMT I've had TN different times. The most recent time I had ringing in a slightly blocked left ear. Doc prescribed antibiotic. The longer I took it the worse I got. BOTH ears got stuffed up and rang, lots of other bad things, Rectum burned and like fungus started to grow around my adenoids and soft palate.
I was going to eat yogurt after I finished antibiotic, but I stopped antibiotic when I was about 30 percent through the routine and started eating yogurt, after the first day I started getting my life back the 3rd yogurt day my right ear returned, stuffiness in both ears were much relieved, 4th day both ears could hear, ringing had stopped.
I was looking up stuff on the net, about fungus and stuff like yeast infection, I realized I probably had it many times in the past and my dog probably did/does too.
You know how ringworm/ crusty stuff on skin is, well I guess I had it inside my ear at different times. And even after it goes away you can still have dead skin left in the ear, a few times I went to Dr. before we both thought, getting the earwax out got back my hearing. But now I think that "earwax" may have had some dead skin from the yeast infection in it.
You know, sort of like dandruff in the ears, packed in with the wax. BTW If you're a yeasthead, that shampoo with Zinc in it works good.

I meant to say besides yogurt, you should have enzymes, like FRESH pineapple and Quercetin, papaya tablets, and ginger is good anitinflamation.. Fresh ginger and even dried ginger sprinkled in your stuff. Like cranberry drink with ginger, (you could give it a fancy ginger ale name)
INSERT DISCLAIMOR
Best wishes,

Buy a bottle of Mega H from the cheapest place you can find, you can read about it here: http://www.phisciences.com/ When you take the gel caps don't swallow them, let them dissolve in your mouth and spread the powder around your inner cheeks lips and gums as it dissolves. This is not the most pleasant tasting substance but just learn to adapt to it. If you get a strong burning or stinging sensation below your lower lip as shown in this photo: http://www.gla.ac.uk/Acad/Dental/oralcancer/things11a.htm Then you may have undiagnosed lupus. Try taking the Mega H over time, one a day at first maybe, then 2 a day..up to 4 a day and see if your tinnitus reduces. If you try this please post your results for everyone to see. Thank you. Rich

I can use every penny! Cheers, Rich
