I have been suffering from sudden mild tinnitus for about 3 weeks now and, like
most, have had good days and bad.  My symptoms have changed somewhat over the
past few days as originally there was just the ringing, now there seems to be
varying levels of pressure in both ears from time to time and a fluid-like
sensation that is temporarily relieved by gently pulling outward on my ears
just above the lobes.  That seems to relieve the pressure for awhile.  Anyway,
last night I used an electric massager (the large wand type) on my neck and
lower skull area for several minutes.  The improvement was dramatic as the
ringing practically disappeared and the "clear" feeling in my ears was so
refreshing!  I applied the massage 2 or 3 times over a 3 hour period and each
time the relief was significant.  Of course, I was woken up at 2 AM by the
ringing again but by gently massaging my neck for a few minutes I got enough
relief that I could get back to sleep for awhile longer.  I realize this is
just temporary relief but, hey, it's better than nothing!

Sounds like perhaps you should see an ENT about the fluid buildup, how to dry
it to avoid infection and/or T worsening.  There are some antihistamines and
decongestants that do a decent job of helping to dry it, too.  I used to get
eustachian tube fluid, with crackling and hissing relieved by pulling on my
ear, too, before I got persistent T.

If the fluid is due to allergies, it might be helpful to avoid chronic or
seasonal fluid buildup with desensitization.

If you are getting relief by massaging the neck, you might get full relief by a
physical therapist treatment and prescribed exercisis.

I also recommend an esthetician (spelling?) who is a facial specialist........I
had one myself last month and it was fabulous!!!!!!!!!  Lots of massage on the
jaw and head and face and it made me feel really good.

Hope you all try one.

That is great news. You have just proved that tinnitus can be helped
by undoing muscle tension of the neck/shoulder muscles.

I apply a vibrator too and i adjust my pillow in order that more blood
could flow into my head.  Since your T is a new one, i would go for a
hyperbaric oxygen therapy when the T is still new.  You have nothing
but money to lose.
