"Benzos" are an entire family of pharmaceutical agents, the
benzodiazepines.
Many benzodiazepines are available in Canada. Which one are you
talking about?
Since you mentioned Jack Vernon in your post, perhaps you are thinking
of alprazolam. I say this because the particular benzodiazepine his
name is most commonly associated with is alprazolam, which is
available in the United States under the brand name "Xanax®." In
Canada, alprazolam is available under the brand names "Apo-Alpraz®,"
"Novo-Aloprazol®," and Nu-Alprax®.
Hope this helps.

I think its a drug approved in Canada and not the US or Europe, perhaps it
was just fictitious banter on the chat boards.

Fictitious banter? On the chat boards? No! Couldn't happen! :-)
Take care, William. Best to you!

i've never met Jack Vernon. Maybe I will one day. He seems very dedicated,
patient and helpful with any ENT questions.
