Hmmm, well I've just found this NG after I started up with what I believe to
be tinnitus about 8 weeks ago.  I thought I might find it a useful place to
describe what I perceive in my ears, get some feedback, maybe some clue as
to whether it's likely to be chronic, or just acute following a recent cold,
etc, etc, and ultimately to join in a community of like-minded fellow
sufferers.

And what do I find?  Well, with all due respect to a handful of decent
people in here, whom I exclude from this, and who know who they are, I find
a bunch of self-serving moronic individuals, who seem to be more concerned
with sniping at each other than with the subject of what everyone seems
lovingly to refer to as T.  Add to that recipe a handful of religious nuts,
a couple of pretend doctors, (pronounced 'quacks'), who spout total
charlatanry and who quite obviously never attended any medical school,
judging, for example, by the complete absence of any knowledge in one of
them about migraine, plus someone whose sole purpose in life appears to be
the total mastery of irrelevance, stir in the world's most practiced
hypochondriac, and there you have it: alt.support.tinnitus.

I'll just suffer in my own perceived form of silence, thanks.

Too late for that, now, isn't it?  :-)

Is there something about your T you'd care to discuss?  Just kill file or
delete anyone you've identified as an irritant to you.

Hi English Bloke
Welcome to the love fest / hell hole of AST ;-)

A couple of moderated boards you may find useful. Tons of info, and some
more decent folks.

Good luck

There is good support here based on many collective years of dealing with T.
Some of us are just less mature than others. But helpful nevertheless. A
very few simply bonkers.

So, please describe your auditory experience. You will get great
feedback.........though there may be some flak to sift through. Like going
to the theater...noisy crowds, good show.
