I'd like to remind everyone to not respond
to the trolls and those with OCD who are
compelled by their disorder to fight here
in this newsgroup. They post inflamatory and
deceitful posts to suck you/us into cyclical
pissing matches which accomplish nothing.
They are compelled by their OCD to do so.
They can't help themselves. Even when you respond
to set the record straight you lose because
they are here only for the fight and you are
obliging them. Scratching their itch as it were.

Kill-file them. Ignore them. Plonk them. They
wither on the vine and become impotent when
ignored.

I think Froggy said it best when he answered
the call for peaceful resistance and the newsgroup
did win the peace.

"OK but it needs a very determined effort by everybody not to
reply to *any* post from the OCDs - even to correct a plain
lie or one of conlon's twists - and that's not going to be
easy because they will keep coming in the hope of a reaction,
and they'll drop in seemingly on-topic questions and responses
to keep themselves alive as well as naive-newbie-curious-about
-the-war posts from their sock-puppets to keep the pot boiling.

The answer, I think, is to freeze them out altogether and kill-
filter every nick change as it appears.  That's not going to be
easy for good-hearted folk who always hope for the best or are
willing to overlook the nasty stuff and may be taken in by a
disingenuous on-topic post or one that seems to signal a change
of behavior - I'm afraid that the two or three OCDs we have here
are too far gone to be able to do that.

Still, I'm willing to give it a go and join with others in not
responding to them.  It will take a long time for them to die
of hunger and we can expect plenty of taunts and insults at the
outset, but let's see what happens."

Mung Beans A La Mode (from "The Kookbook"):
1. Take two or three bad eggs
2. Line the bottom of a large, white, porcelain bowl with a dirty
towel, place in the eggs and add:
    a heap of hypocrisy
    a brimful of bogus
    a plethora of porc
    a measure of mendacity
a cup runneth over of fish sauce
    a baleful of licks
    a dash of anti-semitic discoloring
any leftover bits of off-topic and cross-post to hand
3. Stir well, season with silent imprecations, and cover
4. Leave to stew for a few days (warning: resist the temptation to
lift the lid to see how it's doing!)
5. Flush

Just select Bruce's last post, pull down the message menu (IE) and click on
block sender.

Bruce is one of the chief troll supporters here.

The chief troll is the Atlanta Idiot, but he doesn't know it yet. It has
only been 6-8 years of people telling him. He is a little slow from the
unproven self therapy he has performed leaving part of his brain
malfunctioning.

Bruce, At a time when Ben and Jennifer have broken off their relationship,
how can you even think about OCDs? Man, get your priorities straight!

Thank you very much,

Excellent point.

On page 239 of the A.S.T. Survival Manual we find:

"To a pig, mud is his life.
If you remove its mud what does it have left?"

...and two paragraphs later it reads:

"The mud needs to be watered by other's attentions.
Ignore their rants and there will be no mud."
