My ENT vacuumed the ear!

It seems my Pulsatile Tinnitus (heartbeat in ear) has disappeared. This
morning I went to my ENT who took out some wax that was on the eardrum.
Unfortunately, and quite painful, was he scratched the inner ear and there
was some blood. He knows I have tinnitus but used a vacuum device to suck
out the blood and I guess some remaining wax. The vacuum was extremely
noisy and he repeated using it a few more times in short bursts. It now
seems like my tinnitus in that ear has increased slightly in loudness.

I was fearful of his using that vacuum device after the first try and told
him it was very noisy but he said it was necessary. So, seems like one
problem was solved but may have aggravated another. So far I wouldn't call
it a major issue but who knows what tonight or tomorrow will bring.
Hopefully, this will not become a major concern.

I am kind of shocked that knowing of my severe tinnitus problem he would
use such a noisy device in my ear. Any thoughts about this issue?

Many MDs use this device but it can be really too loud for people who have T
and H.

I think taking a good anti inflammatory like Advil would be really good and
drink lots of water and take a rest.........might be a good idea until you can
recover from the noise exposure.

In the future, maybe ask or insist that the earwax be removed with alligator
forceps of a wax-spoon.  Most MDs can do this pretty easily and then you don't
need the vacuum.

He didn't use that device for wax. he used the forcep-type instrument to
remove wax that was on the eardrum but in so doing, he scratched the ear
canal and there was blood. What happened was this:

He finished taking out the wax from the eardrum and went to his chair. I
told him that I felt something in my ear and he said something about it
being blood. He looked inside and then took over a device that must have
been hooked up to a machine that made a low frequency sound and put
something in my ear that was to vacuum out the blood. It was maybe about
10-15 seconds and he took the device out and I told him it was very noisy.
The noise was high-pitched and extremely noisy. He said that was his
"smaller" one. And then, even after I said it was extremely noisy, put it
back in my ear for another 10-15 seconds.

I have been going to this ENT for a number of years and he knows I have
severe tinnitus (bilateral). The tinnitus in that ear and it seems also in
the other ear has increased. At this point I am under extreme stress and
very angry. How could someone who knows of my severe tinnitus use such a
loud device in my ear is beyond my comprehension. Perhaps the cut he made
in my ear was so deep that he wanted to suck out the blood to prevent it
from pooling on my ear drum. I want to ask him about that. But nothing will
change the fact and all I can do is hope that the increase in tinntus
improves.

I've never heard of taking advil and drinking lots of water could be
helpful. I do drink over 24 ounces of water every day and two cups of green
tea. Can you elaborate on the benefit of advil and any other suggestions?

Thank you!

24 ounces of water everyday?  You should be drinking 4 times that in water
everyday.  No wonder your system retains every drop of moisture it
encounters!

Read up boy and drink more!

But I also drink 2 cups of green tea every day. Actually it's more than 24
ounces - about 30 to 32 ounces. And i eat lots of fruit including grapes,
apples, pears, and blueberries.

Now, I still don't see what that has to do with tinnitus - unless you are
talking Holy Water from that place where miracles occur?

This has to do with good health and green tea with all it's caffiene does
not count toward the essenc fo life - water. Fruit juices and other liquids
do not count either. These only require more water to help your system
process them.

If you do not see the value of this  having to do with tinnitus... why did
you bring it up?

Green tea is good for you whether decaf or regular.

I asked what water has to do with tinnitus?

Meaning, how does drinking more water affect tinnitus?

I've read that fruit and tea are considered in your total water intake.

I do not know. You introduced the subject. I only corrected something you
may have been misinformed of.

I believe and flushing cannot hurt your toxin levels and I also believe
toxins are responsible for tinnitus among other factors.

I am willing to bet oral  chelation for a few months would make most
tinnitus disappear.

64 ounces of water a day is the what is needed for good health which
is 1814.4 grams.

Water in some foods counts toward that total like clear soups, broth,
etc. but in general the figure refers to water because that is what is
needed to flush all other other stuff out of your system after
digestion and respiration take place.

Sorry to get a little personal here, but if your urine isn't pale in
the morning, you are probably not getting enough water.
