My vacuum just crapped out. I'd like to replace
it with one that is relatively quiet if you
folks could share any experience you may have
with such an animal.
Thanks

If you can get to your floor joists you can install a central vac. This
will confine much of the noise to your garage or basement. I use a Roomba
robot 90% of the time but still need a noisy vac for the deep cleaning.

I had central vac installed when the house was built. I can tell you it is
not quiet. You still have to use the suction device and there is a motor
involved - makes the brush turn - and it is noisy.
