Hi everyone - been lurking for a few days, but finally decided to join in.
Seems even to be the odd post with something relating to tinnitus even from
time to time. I'm sure I saw such a post in the last few days even.  :)

I've just started hearing tinnitus over the last few weeks. Any tips for a
newbie?
So far, its not too loud most of the time - only occasionally is it
annoying, but is now always there.

Sounds like you are coping with it pretty well.  Is there any
particular time it annoys you (at night, etc.)?

My only advice so far would be to not let it annoy you :-)

Hi Terri,
Its most noticeable during the day - sometimes louder, sometimes quieter,
but present most of the time that I'm aware of.
Its only affected my sleeping a few times - and those times have been where
I have been to bed alone (wife works till 3am weeknights). Not every night,
but 3 times in last 2 weeks I've been kept awake till at least 1.30am by it.

Best wishes,

Martin  <><

Hi Martin, and welcome to the group.
My suggestion would be to find out why you are
hearing tinnitus. I'd start with a visit to your
family doctor who may recommend a visit to an
ENT or a good audiologist.
You can visit the web site of The American Tinnitus Association
which is http://www.ata.org and collect some information there.

Hi Bruce, and thanks for replying.
Going to see an ENT tomorrow (paying privately to get quick appointment,
otherwise would be at least October before initial visit).
Hopefully he'll be able to do some tests etc and let me know. I'm just
writing up a list of what occurred and when for him now - dizzyness,
tinnitus, vertigo etc.
It all seems to be getting stronger, and I haven't worked my employed job
for over 3 months now (work in a call centre on the phones, with headset).

Best wishes,

Good thing you are going to the doctor.  The vertigo and other things
sound more like Meneire's disease where tinnitus is one of several
symptoms.  Plain old tinnitus doesn't have vertigo and dizziness.

Let us know how it goes.
