Powders for Tinnitus

Hi all.

I saw a pt. this week from far away (east coast) who brought along several
sacks of white powder that he bought off the internet for his tinnitus.  I
tasted them and they tasted like powdered milk, then I went to the website and
I was rather shocked to see a site that had listed dozens of possible auditory
symptoms and basically guaranteed relief from these 'powders'.

Prices were high, too!

I wrote the company to ask how they could support their claims, and if they had
any data to support their ads.  Does anyone have any personal experience with
these things?  They were packed in plain zip lock bags with simple labels.  I
will be happy to write to anyone by personal email to give out the name.

Please don't misunderstand.  I am happy to embrace any therapy that helps
people with tinnitus or hyperacusis.  I just would like some confirmation.

Marsha, does this have anything to do about chinese medicine? Did the
website list what the "powders" were?

I guess it shows how desperate some people are in finding a treatment
for their tinnitus.

Are we talking about the Arches Tinnitus Formula Scam advertised in
the ATA's Tinnitus Today ?

No, these are not Chinese or the other name.  This fellow literally has
bypassed all medical research in both his definitions and his 'therapies' and
it is hard to believe.  And yes, it is a defining statement of how difficult
tinnitus and hyperacusis are to live with, that drives the machines to sell
this 'stuff'.

I just want to know if they help anyone.

MJ, there are so many "cures" out there that fit the description you gave that
I think it's impossible to say which one you are talking about.

Prices were high? Could'nt it be that the makers might say the same about
yours!?
