Unilateral tinnitus is a red flag for acoustic neuromas. You should see

.... in which case it's pretty much a stretch to say you can tell that it's
a sine-wave 1!

I get 'purish tone' mid-freq T intermittantly in either or both ears, around
2KHz.
Also low-freq T (around 56Hz) in either of both ears, as well as a
heavily-modulated version (deisel gen-set in the distance).
And then my 'favourite'. Not. Pretty much constant cicadas in R ear (=
modulated tone, or multiple tones all above 8KHz)
