I have had tinnitus for some 15 years. In the UK, drugs are forever
changing their name(s), and I never take too much notice of what it is
called.
However, I see that the medication currently prescribed for my
tinnitus is
Prochlorperazine Maleate.
Does this make any sense? On looking it up on the internet,
I cannot see any reference to tinnitus.
Can anyone help pleeze?

Hi Markus,
I've had tinnitus for nearly as long as you, 12 years.
As far as I know there is no medication prescribed for tinnitus to stop the
noise, however,
antidepressants are sometimes prescribed to help prevent the sufferer
becoming to low.
I've recently watched a 4hr DVD : Tinnitus - The Way ahead, 4th October BTA
conference 2007, available from the British Tinnitus Association website.
You might find it very interesting as I did. Dr lvor Donaldson, Consultant
ENT Surgeon (and others) gives an outstanding presentation on the latest
medical advancement in treating Tinnitus.
Hope this helps.

"Action of Stemetil:
Prochlorperazine has several mechanisms of action that lead to its
effects of relieving nausea and vomiting. It can also be used to
relieve psychotic symptoms."
There is no specific medication for tinnitus.
If this works for you take it. If it doesn't work drop it.
Have a look at this website
