You can get rid of this crap fairly safely
Using MS Outlook Express
Use menu Tools>Message Ruls>News to get access to build a filter.
I have put in three text strings to look for. "Persecu", "cution" and
"Persecu tion".
The actions I have selected are to delete the post.
For a trial run and to convince yourself it is safe you can do this...
- for actions delect "highlight it" and "mark it read". Sekect a
colour like red to make it stand out or grey to make it dim.
- After proving it for a few days you can change your actions to
"delete it"
Of course you may have to edit this after this jerk discovers what
people are doing or use your own imagination to devise your own
filters.
You will not be able to see posts with "persecution" in the titles.
Best of luck. They are easy to delete or disable again.

What are the tinnitus groups that are monitored? Unless the e mails are
filtered you get the same problem in the other newsgroups. Anyone would be
dissuaded from this group after seeing the sick entries.
Luckily no one is selling Nike shoes here. That one destroyed the options
group..
Maybe we can all move to a monitored filtered group en mass? Anyone know
yahoo or google ones?

All the groups have the problem. I don't, anymore.
Murray missed the point. I have indicated how, ***YOU TOO***, can use
your filters effectively instead of everytime a new kid looks at you
funny, running to another hiding place.

Best of luck to you, too, "Janice", or should I say Larry? How's the
cross-dressing life treating you? Do you pass?

Here is an exerpt from a complaint to the provider
---------------------------------------------
Unfortunately his news provider, Altopia has a policy of not doing
anything
about message floods. They consider it to be a 'free speech' issue.
"Q: What is your policy on message floods?
A: If a message flood is resulting in a denial of service, we will
stop it. If
a user on Altopia is causing it, we may disable their posting ability.
If an
incoming flood is making a group or groups available on Altopia be
unusable, we
may delete the message flood or prevent it, so as to make the group(s)
be
usable. A denial of service is when news servers are unable to perform
their
intended function because of the overload caused by a message flood or
other
harmful activity. Readers inconvenienced by numerous off-topic or
inappropriate
postings does not constitute a flood or denial of service."

The person to have a go at is Chris Caputo, Altopia's operator.
