I have been getting a fluttering sound in my ear...to me it feels like a
small muscle tic happening in my ear for 10-15 seconds at a time at high
speed. I have been reading about Tensor tympani Syndrome and this seems like
it may be the thing...do my symptoms sound like that to anyone else who has
it?

I've just started getting this yesterday too. But it only happens when
I swallow. It does not occur normally, but consistently happens when I
swallow.

Does it seem to last for quite a number of seconds at high speed? Sorry for
all the questions I've just never had this before and as I suffer from
Anxiety and depression too it becomes a worry.

I guess I could just have an ear infection but I don't have any pain, just
possibly a bit of warmth inside my ear. Can an ear infection have these
fluttering, muscle spasm like symptoms?

My last only for a second or two while I swallow. And, I guess, my
sound would more accuratley be described as "crackling". Sounds like
you might have something different than mine.

I'm glad to hear there's no pain, which I think is a good sign. I
think your symptoms could be caused by a minor ear infection. But, as
always, that may or may not be the case. If your hearing becomes worse
I still would not dread about it. Just have an ear, nose, and throat
doctor check it out. I have had multiple days (possibly weeks) with
muted hearing because of "fluid behind my ears". But it has gone away.

Mineral unbalance is very common in muscle tick and spasm problems.
Typically magnesium deficiency causing pH balance problems makes the
muscles flutter, tick and spasm. People taking too much calcium can
induce problems like this. Soda pop, with it's phosporic acid can
unbalance your pH and make it too acidic, is a likely antagonist.

Yeah right Dr. Larry!

Byron that does sound like tensor tympani muscle spasm. Try the TMJ
relaxation exercises at www.ent-consult.com. The 7th nerve innervatest the
face and the tensor muscle and relaxation here can stop the spasm. If that
doesn't work a clinic that does EMG biofeedback, with sensors placed on the
Frontalis Muscle is extremely effective.
