My friend professor Jenny Jiang had to take a sabetical from her
school a few months ago due to her ear problem.  I was under the
impression that she was suffering from a sudden loss of hearing and
tinnitus.

She was going through a 'modern' high-tech treatment in China but the
improvement was marginal.  So I recommended her to go for acupuncture
treatment.  She took my advice and went for acupuncture treatment.
ONE week later, she wrote back the following:
==============================
Dear Francis,

Thanks for your concern for my health. Yes, I started to have
acupuncture from last Monday and I've had it five times. I'm going to
have that for another week. It seems I'm getting much better. Thank
you for recommending acupuncture.....

=================================
Those of you, in particular Jim Chinnis, who are interested in her
acupuncture experience can write to her at the following email
address:

jennyxxcn@hotmail.com

She has consented to receiving emails from any of you and is prepared
to answer questions.

So feel free to write to her for a testimony of her acupuncture
experience.

Years ago when some people were told that the earth was spherical in
shape, they also expressed the same kind of cynicism or disbelief.
That kind of distrusting, however, was understandable in view of the
lack of communication technology on a global basis.  These days
information flow is easily accessible but closed-mindedness does
present an expected stumbling block to learning.

Right like fools posting magical cures to health problems, preying on
the elderly and weak people to enhance their pocketbooks at the
expense of people seeking real help in newsgroups, books and
infomercials.

How do I enhance my pocketbooks by posting what I have posted?
When this profit motive is absent, you can no longer maintain this
absurb argument of yours.

You have been replying to my posts in such a hostile manner not
because you know what is right for the elderly and weak people but
because you do that out of a 'bad habit' passed down in your family
for generations.  It is in this generation of yours, I hope, that this
bad habit will be totally eradicated.

I never had this problem until I tried GB for my tinnitus.  Its what
caused it, a side effect perhaps.  Maybe I should try acupuncture on a
full moon.

I brought you this testimony out of good intention.  Mind you,
something that is initiated out of a noble intention can be a crock of
BS too.  But you have to thoroughly research into this or do a lot of
findings before attempting to  discredit her experience.  You don't
just shoot something out of your mouth as a habit for things you don't
understand or dislike.

I realize a bad habit passed down from the forefathers dies hard but
please do make an effort to eradicate it inspite of the poor job that
the public high schooling in America has done for you.

NO school is need to spot a fool like you and all your BIG CURES and
WILD CLAIMS.  I bet you'be been abducted by aliens and have a metallic
object(tracking device) planted in your gonad, drank tea with
Sasquawtch, swam with Loch Ness Monster, have a statue that cries,
drank GB and your hemorrhoids vanished, had acupuncture and now have
night vision, etc etc...all the other BS claims.  I think you spent
your school days watching tv infomercials with all their cures and
claims too.  No matter how far fetcher any of these can be you can
always find tons of fools, like yourself, who step in line and get
brainwashed by these hucksters.

How do you know if something is BS?  You have to have a benchmark upon
which something can be judged as BS.  If I were to suggest that
someone is an arsehold when I see his name being Bluto, would you
accept that line of reasoning?

You spew an awful lot of it.

Being angry gets you nowhere!  But then again, getting hurt a bit is a

Hi fyfpoon,

A sample of one, and I realise you have the best of intentions, does
not actually amount to a data set that you can use to promulgate a
medical theory.  You have scoffed at the poster, Bluto, for not
providing evidence, while you have only provided the anecdotal sort.
I think I have told you that my Doctor and my Consultant both
recommended acupuncture as a possible treatment, it had little effect.

You might find this interesting, if somewhat disappointing:

I don't promulgate a theory, you fool, and I simply suggested people
to talk to another person who has had success with acupuncture in
treating her ear problem.  That, however, does not suggest acu
treatment is effective for all.  Go to church for a change rather than
picking up a few words from what I said and making an issue of it...

It is a shame that someone like yourself who wasted so much government
resources spent in public education could have become so ignorant and
ignorant in a malignant way.  YOu never ask the other side to clarify
what you don't understand but instead deliver a lengthy disgusting
lecture with the diction of making negative criticism for something
that practically comes with a noble intention.

Why don't you appoint yourself to be a savior of the "elderly and the

Hi fyfpoon,

Its a shame that you fail to address in a polite manner.  What is a
tragic waste of an education is an individual who uses the same word
more than once in a single sentence, ironical that the word is
'ignorant', don't you think?  It puts all your pontificating about
your, hitherto unknown, educational achievements into perspective.

You have no noble intentions here, just self aggrandisement, which the
majority here just can't abide, hence the hostility that you attract.
If you think I am generalising than I will be more than happy to
compile a list of responses to your previous posts from other
subscribers.

If you think this is malign, then I am sorry, it really is not.  If I
responded and said your are a transparent GB peddling half wit, then
that would be, since I really have no idea that is your business.  I
take pains to avoid making suppositions, if only you could about
certain treatments.

I remain politely with,

Best regards

No, I don't judge an individual by the way he uses a language.
Talking about the use of
language and in this case English, I am curious if you want to make
any correction of the above.
However, this would have nothing to do with our debate on acu
treatment.  You do have to know that,
don't you?

Very biased, poor quality study done by authors, obviously out to make
a name for themselves, despite any truth that may have been found.
Look at the authors and some of their other articles.

These guys studied a few bulletin boards (biased sources) to find out
if peer reviewed, controlled studies have been performed and based on
that conclude acupuncture has no effect on tinnitis.

(2)For the proper use of English, try alt.usage.english.  Post your
