So its June of 2007.  Still working through the tinnitus issue (see
previous posts).

Since the beginning ( 2 years back or so ), I've tried:

- Audiologists tests, MRI, MRA: found nothing.
- Balance / vertigo / electric ear zapping tests.  All seems normal.
- Tried the Arches/Ginko stuff at recommendation of Audiologist, for
couple months: no help.
- Went on law salt diet with a dieuretic prescribed by audiologist for
couple months: no help.
- Doing more neck and overall exercise / Tai Chi / cardio / walking,
over a year: no help.
- Tried accupuncture ( 30 or so times): no help, and it hurt.

So the new thing, is a dental prosthetic to help correct for TMJ,
which I've had for years.
Just got on it the other day.  Sounds like I'll have it for a few
months.  I'll let y'all know...

Oh and a couple other things:

- I had tendonitus in Nov.  The occupational therapist said a lot of
that was caused by my overall posture at the computer.  After her
treatment and improving my posture and all, the tendonitus went away.
No help no the tinnitus though.

- Started taking a statin for high cholesterol about a year back.  No
change there.

Thanks RJ

I have not had tinnitus for that long, but I think I am treading the
same path.  I look forward to your progress reports.

Best regards

Have you had infusion treatment so far?  You seem to have missed this
one in the list.  For your information, it is a standard practice in
most hospitals in China to treat tinnitus patients.  Different doctors
prescribe different kinds of solution for their patients.  MIne was a
mix of herb and synthetic solution.  Infusion treatment helped cut
down the volume of my tinnitus.

The second one which I think is missing from your list is sound
treatment.  I did not try it in a professional manner but my
experience of living in the vincinity of ciccadas strongly suggests to
me that it can be very useful.  The right kind of sound is very
therapeutic to the damaged nerve cells, wherever they are in the body.

I don't recommend hyperbaric oxygen treatment because I resent being
locked up in the tank.  I have phobia about it.  But others liked it
and have found them useful.

Hello,
Can you please recommend a place to find or buy the sound of of ciccadas?
Maybe a link to a site where it´s available as download or maybe a CD to buy
somewhere?

I don't know if such a link is available but you can check it out with
an audiologist.  When I was in Vancouver a year ago, I noticed some
audiologists there were selling a couple of electronic ears for about
3000 Canadian dollars.  They can make the sound mimic your tinnitus or
any high pitched sound.

Wikipedia has a link to sound files, somewhere in the middle of this
list: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cicada#External_links

cheers,

Do you have trouble finding suitable CDs to play to mask your
Tinnitus?
How about making your own!?!?! Or have a friend do it for you.

By the way, I used to avoid napping in noon time due to the unpleasant
effect of napping on my T.  But ever since I moved into this Chinese
university dormitory which is adjacent to trees of ciccadas, I have
learned to enjoy a nap in the midst of ciccadas sound!

The natural sound from ciccadas is very soothing and therapeutic.  My
ENT doctor in China told me that this natural sound from ciccadas can
help the damaged auditory nerve cells to recover.  So try it.  This
sound treatment may be capable of producing longer terms recovery
effect on tinnitus.
