Has anyone suffered hearing problems as a result of Skyping? I've
spent only a few hours talking with people that way, using iPod
earbuds on Macintosh laptops, but a few days ago I found my ears
hurting slightly and ringing after I hung up. I wasn't conscious of
having listened at an especially high volume -- the maximum on my
iBook and MacBook is still pretty low. Foolishly, I didn't quit
immediately. Yesterday I spent maybe a couple of hours skyping, though
not continuously. Now, more than 12 hours after my last conversation,
I still hear a faint ringing. Has this happened to others? Does anyone
know if it's likely to go away? And what sort of headphones are safer?
As you know, you can't Skype without headphones or the other person
hears an echo. Thanks for your thoughts on this.

When you Skype again, start paying attention to what your body is
doing.
Is your neck tensing up?
Is your head tilted to one side?
Are you in an unusual position when you do this?

Just see if there is a muscular connection when you do this.

I Skype all the time. Actually I have never noticed any difference.
Skype does use the full spectrum of sound as opposed to the limited
bandwidth of a traditional phone.
That is why you can differentiate the sounds of letters such as E T B V
clearly on Skype but not on a traditional telephone
