Hi all,
I read this article about using sound to supress tinnitus.   They had very
good results based on 1 patient.  They also let you download the sound file
that they used.   I tried it and I think that it worked pretty well for
me -- much better than white noise.  Here's the link:

Some persons get lasing effects with masking. It varies dramatically from
person to person, but it is certainly worth trying. It is NOT necessary that
the masking sound be loud. You have to experiment.
You can have an audiologist test you to see which sounds mask your T and for
how long.

That noise sure sounded obnoxious to me.....and did nothing for my T.

It depends on the individual.  During the onset of my T, I found
myself frequently going into the busiest part of the streets and
listening to the braking sound from bicycles.

I used to worry about T all the time for about 15 years. Then my
mother told me that her aircondition was very loud, but she hardly
notice it, and I thought that I could do the same with the T. And I
did. Now, I hardly notice it, but when I do, and especially when I
sleep I still turn the white noise on, just enought to hear it...

I downloaded the free 10 min from http://homepage.mac.com/viranod

Tks.  But I think you should have your T treated in order to cut down
the volume.  I can now go into a quiet room and deliberately listen to
my T.  It is either not there or is there at a very low volume. My ENT
doctor, who is also a medical professor, told me T can be treated no
matter how old it is.
How about taking BETAHISTINE before bed time for 3 months
continuously? I did that before.

I used to buy an air blower or the one used in the barber shop and
record down the sound using a digital recorder.  It helps.
