White noise has always been a thing for me, since a baby following the
vacuum around 'till now at age 60. When traveling I take a portable
unit. At home there's an air unit supplemented by an electrical
generator (Marsonic or something like that's the Manufacturer I
think). Wouldn't have a chance sleeping without it. Hearing's normal

Am interested in this "portable unit" you describe. I googled "Marsonic" and
only find links to a recording studio. Could you elaborate?

OK :

My portable travel unit is "MARSONA by MARPAC CORPORATION"

I also have an air unit, but I modified the cover to get better white
noise and obliterated any reference info. It's circular measuring 6"
at the base and 4 1/2 " at the top (diameters) andi sits  about 3 1/2
" high. I don't use this one any more.

I sleep to both, a small electric fan which I clean and lubricate
periodically and have been using for about 20 years, together with a
"MARSONA Traveler 1220"

Once traveling on business, I forgot my white noise generator, so a
good substitute can be a TV with the signal cable disconnected ...

I have a short in my radio alarm clock and it constantly buzzes.  It's not
exactly white noise but it is close enough to cancel out all but my highest
tone.  Interestingly enough, in my younger days, i used to run several
really loud computers in my dorm room.  The large amount of fans in those
hacked together computers generated a large amount of noise that canceled
out all of my tinitus.
