Hi,
My right ear has continuous  T.  My left ear sometimes pulsates a little,
especially when I lay down to sleep at night.   Changing my neck position
completely stops it.   Putting my finger in my ear, twisting it, and taking
it out sometimes helps, although I can not be sure.

Any idea what the cause of this is, or is there anything I can do about it?

According to my own experience and what I have heard and read, if a
patient could alter the volume of his or her tinnitus, chances are
that he or she is suffering from somatic tinnitus or tinnitus related
to muscle tension, which has nothing to do with whatever in the ear.
You may to start with try to check if the pillow you are using is too
high.  Perhaps you can sleep with a wrapped towel under the neck and
see if this helps.

I was having dinner last night here in the city of ZhuHai, China.  I
told my story of tinnitus to a lady friend.  She also mentioned that
she once had tinnitus while at the same time suffering from neck
trouble. She was released after a few acupuncture treatments.  YOu can
approach a nearby acupuncturist and ask the acupuncturist if he or she
has had experience of treating tinnitus patients.  In particular, ask
the acupuncturist if you could talk to his or her patients who have
had the treatments.

I am convinced that the chiropractor has had good effects on my left ear.
This comes in addition to the placebo benefit.

I'm anxious to try some treatments, but I have 3 kids, and I usually have to
drive pretty far.  Also, these things tend to be very expensive and you
don't know if it works until after you get a lot of treatments.  There is an
accupuncture guy why is also a chiropractor.  I think that I might try him.
What the heck.  I assume that I should see results pretty quickly, if it
works for me.

I would give each kind of treatment no more 3 times to see if the body
responds positively.

Hi Mr. Y,

Pulsatile tinnitus is mostly due to tension in the neck muscles. If
you change your position the neck muscle is eased.

"I am convinced that the chiropractor has had good effects on my left

I totally agree. He has eased the neck muscles.

There are exercises you can do to stretch the muscles.
