If your tinnitus is affected by alcohol consumption, is it a specific
type, and is there medication that can alleviate the syptoms?

Actually, this snide and glib reply is of no help at all, typical of
fyfpoon's trolling on this group.

jrw, many things can affect tinnitus.  It is mysterious.  My first thought
when reading your question was, "Was he sitting in a bar listening to loud
music when he consumed this alcohol?"

Tinnitus is caused by many things.  When I was young I noticed when I heard
loud noises, my ears "rang".  I believe, in my case, and I do not speak for
anyone else, my tinnitus which I've lived with for 45 years now, was caused
by too much loud noise, guns and hunting, years playing in bands and
orchestras, and years using headsets in the military.

Stay away from loud noise.  The physics is simple.  Sound is force.  Too
much force, and you are injured, somehow.  I think too much force fries,
frazzles, overloads things and processes from here to there, somehow, we
know not how.  Ever blown a speaker?  That's tinnitus.  The left-over noise
that torments us is generated somewhere in that link and I like to think of
it as permanent pain from hitting your finger with a hammer, one that just
won't go away.

I've experimented with foods and drink.  I can find no link.

Protect your ears, boys and girls.  Use protection.

There is hope, and that's called "habituation".  Francis hates this idea,
even after fully chronicling his own habituation on this group.  He refuses
to admit it, being the troll he is.

Excuse the rant.  We need to get on with our lives.  Tinnitus you can become
used to, and learn to ignore.  Mine roars louder and louder every year, yet
I seldom hear it.  I have habituated, and continue to habituated to
increasing tinnitus.  I'm fortunate, for some find habituation difficult,
but everyone I've read on this list seems to say they get used to it sooner
or later.

There is hope.  Loud noise is not indicated.  I only address noise here, but
there are many other causes to consider.

Good luck.

Thanks for your sympathetic response.  Truth is, I do not drink that
much, or listen to loud music.  As you say I think it could be any
number of things.  Top of the list, we had the flat decorated, when we
arrived back the smell of paint was quite pungent, and it is still
detectable in the apartment.  Who knows what the cause is, I'm off to
see a specialist, but as you can appreciate, its new for me, therefore
quite a bloody awful experience.  Thanks for your post, it offers some
hope.

Watch your month, trash!  I was reply liternally to what jrw wrote "If
your tinnitus is affected by alcohol consumption..."  In this
statement, he or she already concluded an assumption which espouses
one's tinnitus being affected by alcohol consumption.  And then look
at his/her reply to you.  In that reply, jrw claims he neither drinks
or listens to loud sound excessively.  Blame on his/her inability to
express an idea clearly  English rather than accusing me a troll.  You
have a big month!

Watch your month, trash!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You're a racist, misogynist, arrogant fool, Francis, and here only to argue.
I think you are a Mongolian.  You told us once you thought little of
Mongolians, and I think that was self-definition and self-loathing.
How have you been, Francis?  Having any fun these days?
And, English is not your native language, Francis.  Don't instruct me in it.
Listen, Buddy.  I don't like you.  When you troll here, I'll express my
opinion of your trolling here.  If you don't like it, stop trolling.
Participate, but don't pick fights every time you post.
You are not a superior human being, Francis.  You're just another jerk with
a chip on his shoulder.
I am having fun educating you.  I am not a Mongolian, nor have I told
you i thought little of Mongolians.  I am a Canadian, if that is OK
with you. Now I am sure you have realized that it does not pay to
casually demonstrate your 'bad habit' in which you refuse to confine
your reply to what is being debated but instead resort to insults at
your interlocutors.  This is part of the 'cultural baggage you have
inherited from your forefathers who might have migrated to North
America from the LOWEST social echelon of Europe or UK.  This bad
habit, which is part of the cultural baggage of the early immigrants
to NA, has made it difficult for people like yourself to be
assimilated into the NA society.
Now you learn and you don't do it any more.  OK, kid?
Now, Pal, just take a look at the following and have an idea how I as
a patriotic Canada do my duty in educating the 'trash' in the Canadian
ngs.  These trashy characters descended from forefathers who used to
be a bunch of petty criminals and thiefs in Europe and UK where their
parental education very much lacked in etiquette:
You post proof of your own intolerance.  You consider people of ethinic
background other than yours "trash".  You're a piece of work, Francis.  An
unrepentant racist.
Do you consider yourself a superior being, an Uebermensch, Francis?  Are you
culturally pure?  Are you better than the rest of us?
Your Usenet history has been examined.  You have a long history of doing
nothing but picking fights and insulting people in the worst of racist
tones.
Nothing I can do about this, of course.  You're free to post here.  Your
miserable posting history can be pointed out to new posters, however, to
mitigate the horrible damage you do here.
Of course there is something you can do and you should do.  You should
refrain from the 'bad habit' which I charged the trashy elements in
the Canadians ngs are guilty of.  You should not have called me a
troll to start the fight.  But since this is your first departure from
the righteous path, a little bit punishment is needed
The Canadian case is different.  Canadian ngs used to be infested with
racist people who pick on people with ethnic names.  Now i connect
their bad habit to their forefathers who came to Canada in containers
that were filled with petty criminals, convicts and child molesters.
My remarks are far from being racist but are truly snobbish or
'classy'.  I don't see anything wrong with that when it is the last
resort that can be used to teach the Canadian trash to learn to grow
up, whereas all the other civilized measures have failed to do the
job.  I don't know if you have been to Canada.  Many Canadians don't
identify themselves with being Canadians but being British Canadians
or sub-British.  It was only after my relentless effort to teach them
lessons that they finally woke up to reality.  The process of getting
to face reality was a bit painful but in view of the deep rooted bad
habit which they had inherited from their forefathers, it was only a
small price to pay.
I am not a racist, as i told you.  But I am a bit of a class-oriented
person, which makes you not want to identify yourself with the
Canadian trash in the Canadian ngs.  My speech is unacceptable to you
but not necessarily to others.  Not all people have bad habit or bad
cultural baggage.
