The terrorist and the Bush Administration need one another.  Were it
not for terrorism, how could we justify all the government machinery
designed to "protect us". from terrorism?  And still, with all of
these government security measures, ABC News was still able to ship
depleted uranium into the county without much problem.

Fact is, you are much more likly to die from a car accident or from
cancer than a terrorist attack.  If our government could only change
it's policy toward the Middle East, maybe we could avoid generating
more Osama Bin Ladens.

We must try to change the hearts and minds of the Arab people so they
won't send their children over here as suicide bombers.

> If our government could only change
>it's policy toward the Middle East, maybe we could avoid generating
>more Osama Bin Ladens.

What do you suggest as a change in policy?

And as a follow up question, how do you feel about Syria, Iran, or
Iraq having a nuclear weapons system?

>We must try to change the hearts and minds of the Arab people so they
>won't send their children over here as suicide bombers.

How do you suggest we change the minds of people who are called by
their religion to kill those who are not Muslims - and Muslims who are
not devout to the Koran and the Hadith also - and who wish to live in
the 7th century?

Did you know that the Muslims were moved from India to Pakistan and
despite Ben Kingsley's wonderful portrayal of Gandhi, that
approximately 1 million died>

Did you know that the war between the two has been going on for over
1000 years?

So to paraphrase Samuel Jackson in "Pulp Fiction" - would Brad with
the big brain tell us how he would go about solving the problems of
the Middle East?

Thank you,

Let's develop hydrogen power, wind energy and fuel cells so we don't
have to rely on foreign oil.  They we can get the heck outta there!
Brad
Martin - 14 Sep 2003 04:42 GMT
>Let's develop hydrogen power,

Unless there is an overnight breakthrough, that technology looks to be
25-40 years out if at all workable on a large scale

>>wind energy<<

Done efficiently that could generate 1/10 of 1% of our national energy
needs. Now if a certain bag of wind were to be cloned and placed at
sea, that is a different story.

>> and fuel cells so we don't
>have to rely on foreign oil.  They we can get the heck outta there!

"Masashi Arita, general manager of Nissan's powertrain and environment
research lab said; The most critical technical issue is how to reduce
the cost of the stack itself.''
"Arita said between 80 and 100 grams of platinum are needed for a
fuel cell's power output to be in the range of 70 to 75 kilowatts, or
about 100 horsepower, which is roughly the standard for fuel cell
cars.He points out for comparison, the amount of platinum used in a
catalytic converter is less than 10 grams per car.

"Arita said a fuel cell capable of powering a car today costs
more than $200,000.

"If power output could be maintained at the 70-to 75-watt level
while slashing platinum usage by 75 percent, to about 20 gram, then he
said: We could begin introducing some fuel cell vehicles into the
market.'' A number of companies including Honda, Toyota and GM say
that fuel cell vehicles will be introduced to the mass market within
the next six to 10 years. However they do not expect them to be built
or sold in large numbers. Niche would probably overstate the volume
expected. "

     So, I ask you again:

"Fact is, you are much more likely to die from a car accident or from
cancer than a terrorist attack.  If our government could only change
it's policy toward the Middle East, maybe we could avoid generating
more Osama Bin Ladens."

What is wrong with our current policy and what would you change?

"We must try to change the hearts and minds of the Arab people so they
won't send their children over here as suicide bombers."

Again, they hate us and want to live in the 7th century. You are
stating "We must try to change the heart..." Now, how do you propose
that be done so we can live in peace with these animals who are trying
to kill us? Would you have argued with a Nazi about Jews and expect to
get somewhere?

We can start by being more balanced with our approach toward Israel.
Then work on improving relations with the other Middle Eastern
Countries.  Fact, is many of these dictators are now in power because
of our initial support and compliance.  Didn't we initially supply
Saddam Hussian with military equipment and support?  What about the
Afghan rebels?  We are not innocent in all of this.  Guns, bombs and
weapons of mass destruction were not developed by a group of goat
herders living out in the desert.  They were developed by the West and
have now found their way into the hands of those who wish to destroy
us.

I don't have the answers on how to solve all this mess, but one thing
I'm sure of: violence begets violence.

>We can start by being more balanced with our approach toward Israel.

I don't know what you mean by that. What is not balanced with regard
to our approach to Israel? We have repeatedly asked them to not
respond the way we are to a hundred 9-11's that they have withstood.
Please explain.

>Then work on improving relations with the other Middle Eastern
>Countries.

Suggestions as to how you improve relations with countries that want
to nuke you would be interesting.

>Fact, is many of these dictators are now in power because
>of our initial support and compliance.  Didn't we initially supply
>Saddam Hussian with military equipment and support?

Yes, because history shows us that the enemy of my enemy is my friend.
Iran hates us. We helped Iraq to stop them. It's not an easy game.
That's why I'd like to hear what you think needs to be changed in our
policy that will make these people like us. The French hate us too. I
can live with that :)

>Guns, bombs and weapons of mass destruction were not developed by a group of goat
>herders living out in the desert.  They were developed by the West and
>have now found their way into the hands of those who wish to destroy
>us.

Well, you can thank France and Bill Clinton.

>I don't have the answers on how to solve all this mess, but one thing
>I'm sure of: violence begets violence.

And if someone is going to put a bomb in your mother's kitchen you
have to place one in their mother's first. Orwell said that.

How do you explain this Martin.  Looking at hisory, would you say that
we always have a good international policy?  See the following
website:

Look like with were pretty close with Saddam at one point.

>Look like with were pretty close with Saddam at one point.

What, that is supposed to prove something about the actions of the
benevolent US?

In a high priced game of chess, there are many unsavory players and
people you must sleep with.

Dear Dr. Grossan,

I'm interested in investigating any way to lessen my tinnitus levels.
I have visited your site linked above and read about the Nasal
Irrigator. Should I be purchasing it because it will reduce my
tinnitus, or is this just an advertisement of some sort for an
unrelated product that you might be profiting from? If the latter, I
don't think that you should be advertizing the product on a tinnitus
support group.

Thank you,
Martin

My name is not Trent Lott. I never try to prove a negative.

Try your Hegellian Thesis, Antithesis, Synthesis on another.

Cheers, hic.
