I'm sure this is stuff that's come up alot but I'm new to the group and
had a couple questions.

I was wondering if I can acheive the same results with Retraining
therapy by using a cd player with a headset and a stereo when I sleep
as if I were to purchase the in-the-ear device.

How effective has TRT been for any of you. I'm most concerned about
hypersensitivity and I heard that it helps with this. Is this true?
What type of results can I expect?

Thanks

The research on TRT suggests (but doesn't prove) that the bigger benefit
from TRT is linked to the directive counseling. TRT is based on the
interaction of reduced tinnitus contrast (from masking) and changes
resulting from the counseling.

Besides that, when you are sleeping you will not be habituating, anyway.

Just try it, as long as there will be no irreversible consequences...

Hi!
I have found absolutely no organized surveys attempting to quantify
succes or failure of *any* Tinnitus treatment, remedy, therapy, cure,
what have you. I still dont quite understand why there shouldnt be any
with such a highly organized science community out there and the fact
that T affects tens of millions of Americans. Maybe I've been looking
in the the wrong places the last 2 years?  So, what you'll find here
are interesting and occasionally passionate contributions from people
who have various experiences with the dozens of advertised treatments,
homegrown remedies, exercises, or magic potions.  If you have some
time, search the archives of this group for stories (not answers)
related to your questions. Remember, one persons cure can be another
persons poison. I havent tried TRT.  All I ask is that, if you try
something to relieve your T, please return here sometime soon after and
write your story whether it be success or failure. May quiet soon
descend upon your ears like a gentle rain.  Thanx and good luck.  Jim.
