Two years ago when I first came into this group, I was suffering from a
tormenting _illness and ill_ named tinnitus.  I recall a moment when i
was in the doctor's office when I told him I would give everything I
had to him if he could find me a cure.  Tinnitus was maddening to me!

Today, I am proudly telling the world that I have scored a wonderful
victory over this illness! The key to success was 'trying everything'!

I suggest the rest of the group should follow this advice too.  Don't
be fooled by this or that 'studies'.  Many of these 'studies' are
performed by frustrated graduate students who are having a hard time
finding topics on which to write their thesis and as such have very
questionable scientific characters.   Make reference of other patients'
EXPERIENCES.  Somewhere you will find a way to successfully deal with a
situation that is _uniquely_ yours.

That's a very encouraging message.  Can you share details about what
worked for you?

If I may suggest, clearly anxiety made the tinnitus worse. When you took
charge of your treatment that reduced the anxiety.

Is there a way to go back into my archive?

I wish that I could get a summary about all the cures. I'm no expert, but
would love a quick summary of what works for others.
1.    Focus on something else and do something that                 engages
my mind.
2.    I have tinnitus maskers.  But I don't try to mask it.
Even at full volume, I can still hear my tinnitus, since         it  is high
frequency.  I turn the volume below my             tinnitus     and then
this distracts me from the                     tinnitus.  I try to go     as
low volume as I can.
3.    Exercise seems to help.  Not when I am exercising             and
expecting my tinnitus to go away, but rather             afterwards.

As for things that make it worse, this would be salt, sleep deprivation, and
stress.

Your tinnitus, as far as I am concerned, has never been treated at all!

Now when I DELIBERATELY listen to my t, either it is not there or is
there at very low volume.  That is called treatment!

I would agree.  I have done a lot to become stronger coping with it, but
little to decrease the actual volume.  I am unsure where to start.

If you had not tried gingko, then try it; if not acupuncture, then try
it; if not TRT, then try it; if no sound masking, than try it....Only
*you* can tell what works and what doesn't.

I made the mistake a couple of years ago by listening and analyzing too
much of what was being said in this ng.  There are more dogmatic
characters in this ng than I have run into in any other ngs.
