Hi - I am just joining.

About a year ago, I started experiencing a steady tone in my left ear.
Listening closer, I also hear another slightly higher tone,
intermittent, crackling, in the same ear.  A couple months later, while
doing some palate's neck exercises, I came out of this very dizzy and
with the room spinning.  That has happened before when I've
overextended my neck, though this was pretty bad, and lasted a couple
months (chiropractic made it go away).

Since then, the tones are still present, now along with
rushing/vibration, which seems to be in the left ear.  Also, a very
high whine, like the sound behind a computer monitor, is involved,
though hard to say which ear.  I can influence that one by moving my
jaw: but not the other sounds.

So far, I've been to oral surgeons, audiologists, and ENTs (who have
taken xrays, MRIs, MRAs, and CT Scans), done checks on my jaw bite, and
found no problems.  I do have clicking jaw in the same ear as the
tones, but it does not cause any other pain, and the ENT suggested
nothing needs to be done there.

So while I am continuing chiropractic, the other medical options seem
slim now, and as of today I am starting on the Arches formula.
Overall, this doesnt effect me during the day: I can only hear this
stuff when its quiet.  Its just annoying and worrying at the moment.

I'll let you know!

I too was very distressed when it started happening to me.  This caused
general depression and then imsomnia, resulting in a few hours of broken
sleep per night.  When my GP told me that it was beyond his competence I
knew that the only way out was to accept it and get over it.  When I got
my head round the fact that this was not an indicator of a more serious
condition it became easier not to concentrate on the noise.  Now I'm in
a position where I don't 'hear' the tinnitus for much of the time.  I've
no way of assessing the severity of my case but judging by the results
of a bit of mind application my mood has improved considerably by the
power of positive thinking.

Don't let tinnitus take over your life, there are plenty of strategies
for dealing with it, and most importantly - don't worry about it.

Thanks for the advice KP.  Yeah, I'm going through the phase now I
think trying to insure nothing more serious is going on.  And
hopefully, it won't get any worse: or at least, I'll get used to it, if
I can't reduce it.
