I am also involved with a Adult ADD/ADHD group. I posted once about
hyper-sensitive sounds with visual hallucination and tinnitus. I
received a huge response of others with the same symptoms.

How about here? Any diagnosed ADD/ADHD with your tinnitus?

Here is the freaky one... any hyper-sensitive hearing with visual
response... When I am relaxed and trying to go to sleep with eyes closed
and a small sound pops off like a cat knocking a pencil to a tile floor,
a creak or a pop in the house, or any other small abrupt sound do you
ever feel it go off in your head like a small explosion with a visual
flash behind your closed eyes?

I also have hyper-sensitive hearing trouble without the visual response
occasionally when I am putting away silverware, especially forks in the
drawer. The clinking of the metal is physically painful to my ears. This
usually comes and goes and is not a problem all the time.

Thanks,
Brad

My tinnitus was/is associated with occasionally very severe hyperacusis
and the same was true of my child.  Both of us had T caused by tick
borne diseases.  My T and H are pretty much gone unless I become ill
with a cold or flu.  My child was cured by antimicrobial therapy for
parasitic and bacterial infections caused by tick bite.

I have tested positive for borrelia burgdorferi (Western Relapsing
Fever) (Tick Bite)I have been taking a regimine of Doxycycline every
couple of years to control my symptoms... Any MS symptoms in your
family? There is evidence that a very high ratio of Western Relapsing
Fever outbreaks can develop MS. At least 4 people from a 4 unit vacation
condominium developed MS within 10 years of each other, all of us have
relapsing fever titers. Email me offline if you want more info.

Every couple of years?  Doesn't that just piss off the borrelia?  What
cured my child, after years of illness, was a Mepron/zithromax
combination.  It helped, but didn't cure me.

I've not had any MS like symptoms since I began 400mg doxy years ago.
It's a very common occurrence in TBD patients, though, and some in the
NIH trials actually had lesions reverse on MRI after IV abx treatment.

I know, my mom suggested it to them 25 years ago.

I don't, but this has been documented in a number of medical journal
articles. The experience has been dubbed "exploding head syndrome" by -- I
think -- The Lancet. It can occur with or without a triggering sound, but is
generally when going to sleep. As I recall, it remains unexplained but seems
not to imply anything bad...

Hi Brad,

I've experienced  "exploding head" infrequently for most of my 65 years.  It
happened again just last night.  Very startling during the early years,
somewhat amusing later on.

Enjoy,

Bill
