Hi

Im probably going to ramble on in this.

About 8 weeks ago i woke up, and thought i left something on for a start a
TV/computer or something, then i realised this high pitch noise and it is
constant was coming from my left ear.

Ever since then its been the same level of noise, but a yestersday its got
louder.

So much is happening at the moment and i dont know if its connected or not,
when i mentioned this to the doctor he didnt press on it like he thought it
wasnt related. But a year ago i had a root canal that i found out didnt work
(im having that tooth out next thursday as its that or pay 600 pounds for a
reroot thats not guaranteed to work again). The failed root got infected and
sore and made me have a tooth ache i had to take antibotics to clear that
up, its ok now but will come back if i dont have it out.

Also a couple of days ago i had a cap put back on a tooth that came out (its
a silver filling type cap).

Hes also mentioned he may do a scan for any growths in the future if it
doesnt clear, im guessing that probably a last resort, in the meantime he's
given be a weeks worth of Steriod Type Pills taking 5 x 5mg pills
(Prednisolone Enteric Coated Tablets says on the bottle), thou as i said
before it gotten worst. im wondering whether to continue taking them.

Is there a connection you think between the 2 teeth problems and my
Tinnitus, either by the Cap, or the failed root canal? even thou the tooth
problems came first. But the 2 teeth are the same side as that ear. The cap
is on the back tooth top and the root canal tooth is 2nd to back bottom.

I really hope it can be solved, i dont think i could bear living my life
with the noise it is now, its constant, high pitch.

Im so desperate i even went to a health shop today and got some Ginkgo
tablets to try if it doesnt get any better.

Also i noticed, i answer the phone at work with my right ear and that sounds
ok.
I tried one day answering the phone with the tinnitus ear and the people
sound all echo'y like they are talking in a cave.

Im 33, I work in a boring environment lol at a computer terminal all day,
and work and play on computers when i get home, just so you know my
lifestyle. I dont like flying so never flown, last concert i went to was in
1988, i dont do much really that would cause the tinnitus.

Just hope they find something so they know what it is to cure it.
I just hope they dont give up or say its permanent.
Before it got louder i could get use to it but now its louder harder to
ignore.

Four years ago I had a tooth extracted and have had Tinnitus ever
since. Two weeks ago I had to return for a filling and was naturally
very apprehensive. But it is amazing what a toothache will do. While
the dentist was doing what he had to do I decided to observe my body to
see what was happening. I noticed that while my hands and legs appeared
to be quite relaxed, my shoulders were not. The shoulder muscles were
tensing up very strongly, and I felt that I wanted to disappear through
the chair, away from the drill. This tension persisted well over a
week, even though I knew by now what to do about it.

Then there are the computer problems. How is your posture? Is the PC
comfortable situated? All these things can add to muscle tension which
can lead to tinnitus.

i hope when i have my tooth extracted it won't make it worst then

has there been any connection between silver fillings/cap and tinnitus
it came worst the evening of the same day i had my cap put back on when it
fell out.

i just paid to have it put back in, but as a last resort i could i suppose
save for a white cap
or something.

The type of cap makes no difference.

The thing that makes the difference is the amount of muscle tension in
the body.

Hi Shirl,

I have had tinnitus for three years in my left ear, mine started after a
root canal in an upper left molar, that the Dentist I was going to at the
time really messed up, I hvae since had to have that tooth pulled, and
another root canal in a lower molar. After this most recent root canal the t
got louder, it used to quiet down after a few days but is now pretty much
4,000 hertz which when I had my hearing tested twice I have a slight hraring
loss.

No one will help, I say something to the entist or my family Doctor and I
get the usual "learn to live with it"

I was doing a tremendous amount of Computer work both at home and at work, I
lost my job last year to Globalization, I am not sure that I will ever get
use to the T.

Merry Christmas

i had that failed root canal tooth out today
it still hurts at the moment still so ill see when it settles if the
tinnitus is less loud, i can still hear the humming in the ear but with the
other pain at the moment i cant tell if its quieter or not. Or maybe ill
have to wait a few days for the sore spot to settle and hopefully the
tinnitus will to (i can hope).

its good to hear from the other post the cap makes no difference, as i didnt
want that out as it fits good.

my hearing loss in that ear is slight to on the high pitch noises, plus
slightly distorted.

i get that too at the moment, "you may have to live with it"     8(

If you take steps to reduce the muscle tension the hearing loss will
also improve.

No one will help because no one knows what to do. My doctor looked at
me and said that a tooth extraction should not give me tinnitus. Maybe
so. But I got tinnitus after a tooth extraction.

My first relief came after a chiropractor visit. I did not understand
why. But it was 4 years becuase I discovered that going to the dentist
set up extreme muscle tension in my neck and shoulders.

I have had a root canal since then without any further trouble because
then I understood the connection.

I also do a lot of computering. That is another source of muscle
tension. How is your posture? How is the computer situated?

Yes, it is possible to ease the tinnitus considerably, but it will
take some time. After all the tension took quite some time to set in.

Have a look at http://eebee.net/TinnitusIsaPainintheNeck.shtml
and other pages on that site.
