I have since june of 2004 tinnitus, i remember one night I awaked in
the middle of the night with a pulsating pain on my right ear with some

kind of whistle sound and after it I started to note sounds while I was

on silent places, I am pianist and since one year I can´t enjoy what i

love to do in my life cause every time I sit to play at the piano y end

with a terrible sound like if i where cooking with a pressure cooker.
Also when I´m watching TV i just can´t unfocus from the typical
background white noise comming from the speakers cause I can hear it
just inside of my ears

I hate to hear from doctors the idea of living forever with tinnitus
and I think i finally found a place to share my experience and leave
some knowlege and recieve it too  in the way to find a solution for
some particular case like my own.

I just remember that on my desperate efforts to relief the noises I was

trying a lot of vitamins and on december of last year I noticed one
night that my sound was almost dissapeared  and during all this year I
had the problem again, i just want to imagine that maybe some of the
vitamins i was trying helped to relief my tinnitus, I was trying
Vitamin E and Damiana capsules.

Where do you live?  US of A?  I am glad that you get some relief by not
committing the sin of ethnocentricism.

Hey this is my other username, ok well I´m from Mexico City beside
where I live I think it´s a problem in common worldwide when a medic
just don´t know how to treat a condition the best wat to protect
themselves is to say "it´s not curable" or evade the situation instead
of accepting they just aren´t complete knowers of their profession :(
And yes, I hate ethnocentricism I think we are humans not british or
germans nor africans or latins ;)

When my tinnitus was bad I could not tolerate playing modern music. It
was too discordant. But it has passed.

If you awake in the middle of the night with ear pain then there is
muscle tension in the neck and shoulder. This may have been building up
for years.

Are you aware of your posture when you play? It is most important to
undo the tension that builds up when playing. Do you do stretching
exercises after a bout of playing?

There is a lot of information on this site that you might find helpful.

You see there´s just a question about the postures and the stretching
exercises:

I didn´t knew that my piano teacher had a low frequency tinnitus
untill I talked to him about my problem
I don´t know if it´s just a coincidence, I don´t think the postures
at all could be having to do at all with the problem but
could be some of the habits of stretching exercises to do something
here?, to relax my shoulders i just rise them and then i let them fall.

I actually had a fall on a yatch about five years ago and I had some
problems in my neck for a long time and I never gon to a doctor to
check my self and actually y always had a problem in my jaws that
joining all this situations could be leading to my tinnitus problem and
i might find a solution, thanks to tell me that about Tension! it´s a
very important topic here cause I already made some blood tests and
Seems that all is in normal levels suspecting a cholesterol or diabetes
problem or something worst.

talking about music I can almost feel what you feel when you say you
can´t tolerate playing modern music, there´s just a moment I wich you
just feel inside your ears a pressure you can´t describe cause it´s
not air! and that´s the main situation I want to find sooner a
solution because im´t taking the music as my profession right now :(
and i don´t want to have a worsen tinnitus cause that could mean
"goodbye" to music for an undeterminated time.

If you had a fall and further neck problems then your problem is most
likely right there. And your jaw problems are most likely related to
that as well.

Can you visit a trusted chiropractor to see if you need anything done
to your neck?
Can you get a massage from a trusted therapist to ease and confirm
whether there is tension or not.
Can you find a trusted therapist to check on your posture etc?

Actually my doctor told me that I´m having certain posture problems
due to my profession, as a music you tend to create certain habits on
your postures that if you don´t care they can injure you.

I tried a chiropractor and he told me that I might be having back
problems cause he found some problems and also my neck but I really
scared cause he offered me some homeopatics and acupunture so I wanted
to be sure first at all of my security but all indicates that´s the
way i need to take so i need to have the courage of loose my fears and
find the solution ;)

Those recommendations are not dangerous. Might be worth a try.
But they are not going to solve your posture and back problems long
term.

So take courage. Ask yourself "Will this be dangerous?"
