Bettye - I am sure no-one on here would make fun of your hearing loss, high BP, or tinnitus. I don't know much about lasix, except it is a diuretic. In google search engine it states that dyacide is for fish! (an anti-parasite drug) Are you sure you are taking that? As for hydrocdone, an analagesic, well, I suppose *any* drug can make tinnitus worse in certain people, and not others. You ought to ask your doctor if tinnitus can be a side-effect of any drug that you take, and he can then prescribe something else for you to try instead. Tinnitus often accompanies hearing loss, unfortunately. Mind you, I know of plenty of people with perfect hearing, and deaf, who get it too. I think you need to go to your doctor, and then audiology for help with this. Often we simply have to learn to find ways of coping with the dreaded tinnitus, and that can be distressing, to say the least, but it is possible, so hang in there! You are certainly not alone.

Tinnitus is often associated with muscle tension. It is possible to
have tension and not feel a thing.
Arthritis in the back probably also causes more tension in the back
and neck muscles.

Yes, diurectics can be ottotoxic to some people. I was on dyacide or
hydrochloridethiazide and it made my tinnitus a lot louder! The day I
stopped using it was the day of liberation from tinnitus. But prior to
that I had brought this to the attention of the doctors but the doctors
I visited were a bunch of stupid people. I even asked this question in
ALT but the answers from the online doctors were somewhat lukewarm
because they are unwilling to listen to anything their textbooks have
not taught them. But if I were you, I would do away with diuretics
completely. Have you brought this up with your high-tech doctor in the
US? Many doctors have no idea of the kind of side-effect that their
prescribed medicines cause to their patients.
I am currently using a combination of Plendil and Irbesatan. My blood
pressure is being controlled very well(110/70)! Before it was 180/120
without med. My cardiology doctor in China told me that when a person
gets old, his or her blood pressure becomes harder to control. As a
result, they need two kinds of medicine combined together in order to
have their blood pressure controlled. Does your high=tech doc in the
US know about this?
also,i take hydrocadone fror arthritis in my back,so i

Do away with dyacide and lasix first and see what will happen?
so please don't make fun of

You are very welcomed. Remember, if your current doctor fails to take
care of you, fire him and move to another one. Doc are not any smarter
than plumbers.

Someone questioned what drugs these are. I think the poster means Lasix
and Dyazide. Dyazide is a combination of Hydrochlorothiazide ("HCTZ")
and Triamterene. (And the other drug mentioned was Hydrocodone.)
Someone suggested that Irbesartan and Plendil will not aggravate
tinnitus. Another difference between a Dyazide & Lasix regimen versus a
Plendil & Irbesartan regimen is the D & L probably cost around $200 a
year, and I bet you can't buy 2 MONTHS of Irbesartan and Plendil for
$200. This could be an issue for the OP.
(Lisinopril might be a less expensive choice.)

The monthly cost of ONE month's Irbesartan here in China is RMB120 or
US$15 and Plendil more or less the same. Thus the cost per month is
roughly US$30 for the two. But then again, the monthly income of the
people here is a lot lower than that in the US.
