This is also referred to as ear candling, and is at the very top of the ear
scam list. Of no possible value except to the people who sell these things.

No, it is of financial benefit to the doctors who get to treat the burned
ears and the plugged ears.
It is always amazing to me, NO ONE would treat their car to "candling" or
any product not authorized for their car, but for themselves. My vet tells
me that few people "experiment" on their loved ones - their dog/cat.

Ear cones/candles are deemed to be non-approved medical devices in
Canada and the United States. It is illegal to sell them or use them on
someone according to the FDA and Health Canada.
Was it you Jim, who once remarked "if they work for your ears they
should work for hemeroids?" Still laughing my head off and have used
it many times :)))

I'm afraid I can't take credit for that one, Bart. But I'll bet some
shopkeeper reading this list is already preparing some new labels for his
candles...

That is so true. You can read the ad for Otosan and never realize its ear
candling.
Same is true for colloidal silver nose spray. You have to really be skilled
and persistent to read through the smiling happy faces and testimonials to
try to find that this wonderful sinus cure is colloidal silver. And some
don't say that either. What they don't say is that use of their product
causes argyrosis - a permanent discoloration of the skin so you look like a
ghoul - for which there is no treatment available.

maybe getting the candles accupunctured-improved oxygenation might
boost their efficiency...?

And how could you forget about externalizing flatulence. You know it's the
internalized flatulence that worsens T. How quickly people forget.

Yes, and it's not a small side effect of the HBO chamber.
