Pillows?

Although I am, for my "sins", enjoying a peaceful day, without even lying
down this morning, I wondered if a decent pillow might help me, and my T
then not be noisy when I awake?    I normally sleep on two latex pillows,
and sleep well, and don't really like being too flat on the bed. (To quieten
my T I lie on my left side and use my two usual pillows tucked in the hollow
between my shoulder and chin).  I know Steve wakes up and his T is quiet, so
are you lying flat out Steve, or maybe you should be propped up if it is the
blood flow theory in your case?

I have seen many pillows advertised, and I tried one of those weird
coned-surfaced things which I found really uncomfortable, so I am wondering
if anyone could recommend some kind of orthopoedic type pillow for me to
try, please?

Thanks,

Ben

My T is only reasonably quiet in the morning because of the violet noise* I
play throughout the night. Without it, my T is always annoyingly loud (as it
is after any nap). I have two or three pillows.  Following on from FP's
advice, I once tried lying flat without a pillow - it made no difference to
my T.

You're correct in that, according to my so-called "theory", if I were to
sleep when propped up my T might be improved.** However I've never tried
this because in that position I'd find it difficult to sleep!

*  In fact I find I have to change between playing continuous violet noise
and short pulses of violet noise every few nights, because each sound loses
its effectiveness after a while otherwise. My home-built generator will
switch between the two modes.

**  That's assuming merely propping up the head will reduce the blood
pressure in the head. It might not, because the effect probably depends on
the blood 'draining' to the lower legs and feet, and that only applies when
I'm standing up. Maybe my next invention should be a truss so I can sleep
hanging up in a vertical position!!

How about being suspended from a chandelier ? :))   Do you use any special
type of pillow Steve?
I was disappointed not to get much response about pillows - thought the new
shape things were
in fashion :(

Er.. I don't think the ceiling would support my 15½ stone weight.  I'd come
down in a shower of plaster and glass. Although I suppose that this would
drown my tinnitus for a while. Thanks for the idea .... ;)

Nope. But years ago in pre-T days I did, and it helped with neck-ache.

Not to worry; you seem to be doing good work here where it counts - offering
support to newcomers.  It's very hard to know what to say isn't it, since
all our T's are so different.

Cheers,

S
