I got tinnitus from taking either tylenol with codeine or Vicodin
(which contains codeine)around 1995.  There's no question about this,
but since I had to take both Rx's close together it's a little
uncertain which one was the culprit.

Ten years later, I took one dose of T with C and the tinnitus, which
had faded somewhat over the years, was back in full force.

If there are people who have to take these Rx's, you might want to ask
your doctor for an Rx of Ibuprophen and codeine.  I don't have the
proprietary name of it right now, but you or your doctor can find it in
the PDR (Physician's Desk Reference) or maybe from a pharmacist.

I don't know that there is no hazard in taking this, but I would advise
anyone to avoid tylenol with codeine.

If you've had a problem with these pain killers and have children, you
may want to tell the dentist to make a note on the kid's file to Rx
something else if they ever need a painkiller.

For what reason were you taking the tylenol etc?

Pain relief for a ruptured disc.

Then it could be possible that the ruptured disc was upsetting  your
spinal arrangement - changing your body posture - causing tension all
over the place.

That could be a more likely explanation than tylenol.

Interesting theory, but it just wouldn't apply to this case.  It was an
L4 disc and I didn't have much of an antalgic lean.  I had it for a
while, but the onset of tinnitus occurred within one day of starting
the drugs.
