I do hope I ain't boring anyone, and am putting the day number in the header
so people who are bored needn't read my reports.

First off I would like to say when I am doing my "experiment" I am lying in
my king-sized bed :) with no noise at all - it is quiet where we live.  As
it is so quiet, and because I lie on my left side I put in my right hearing
aid - not really sure if that helps as there is nothing to hear!   Due to
being prone to a neck muscle spasm on my left side, I have not lain that way
for a very long time, because if the muscle goes into a spasm it is so
painful that I have great difficulty rising up to a sitting position to
enable me to try and get rid of the spasm.  So, I always use two pillows to
tuck in the hollow between my neck and chin, and always take great care when
I lie on my left side.

Sunday, Day 3:  I woke up at just after 7.35 and the noise was really loud
and very harsh - a solid racket!   I had a black coffee, and went to the
bathroom, then decided that as the noise was so bad I had better have my
breakfast before attempting to get rid of it.   About 9 am I lay on my  left
side, and with my usual positive attitude, thought NO WAY am I going to get
rid of this harsh, loud, solid sound!   9.10 and I am comfortable, and a
sudden change - it didn't suddenly go quiet, but the harshness went. At 9.16
the noise started to fade away.  When it got to 9.30 I was afraid I might
fall asleep, so I turned over and lit a cigarette. ( I know, I know - I
shouldn't smoke, and most especially in bed!).  All that remained was a very
slight sound on my right side.  I always find if I have T more on the right
side it is tolerable compared with the left (everything about me is much
worse on my left side!)  so I was mulling over whether to bother to try and
get rid of that.   I suppose it was partly knowing I was coming on here to
report, and I like to report a success, and also silence is golden, that I
thought I would have another 10 minute try on my left side.  I didn't think
it had made much difference as there was a slight noise, but hardly
discernible, so I arose not wanting to risk falling asleep as it was now 10
am.   As I sit here typing this, I can't hear anything except my computer,
so I am now looking forward to reading my Sunday broadsheets in peace.

Golly, Ben
Are you really going to suffer this problem for the rest of your life?
Because of lack of money?

What happens in tour life that could be setting up the tension? Your
job? I don't know what you do.
But I remember some years ago someone mentioning the fact that he
spent a lot of time with a phone clamped to his ear. That was his job.
He changed to a headset. Haven't heard the result.

Ben,

you will find that the pattern you arrived at yesterday may change
today and it may come back tomorrow.

If what you have got is somatic tinnitus or one that is related to
muscle tension, it will take several months before it goes away even if
you do the right thing.
