I would like to say that I have been lurking here for about 2 years and
finally got the courage to post. I am 36 years old and developed this
curse 5 years ago. I would cover my ears and here this high pitch ring
in my right ear, then over time it got louder where I did not have to
cover my ears to hear because it was so loud. Then later on it seemed
to move to the center of my head, now I hear a low tome with the high
ring. I notice also that during that time when it go louder I was
smoking the chronic and did not see the connection back then. Now over
time I have experimented by smoking a listening and noticed that it
does get louder. I quit smoking for a while hoping that if the thc left
my body the ring would go down to normal, but I was wrong it still very
loud. Long story short I have high blodd pressure, thought that could
be the problem and started taking BP medication-- which in turn made it
louder.Some- BP medication side efects are ringing in the ears great!
Do I die of a stroke or put up with the louder ring with the med.
Friends tell me to get on bp meds and deal with it.. but they just dont
understand. I have accepted this ill, I have been to ENT had MRI took
ginko cut on the salt, dont take aspirin dont smoke and excercise more.
But its still there. I just want to say that I know how u people feel,
I feel ure pain.. most people just dont have a clue on how bad this
is.. Also i tried XANAX, it works for the few hours but then 2 days
later it gets even louder. I read also that 1 of XANAX side effect is
tinnitus!. Also would like to mention that the ring also causes a
feeling of electricty going through my ear and gives me bad headaches.
Thank u for listening, I hope some day there will be a cure so we can
all have some peace again, I would like to know what silence is!! I
also ge the feeling now and then that my ears feel full, doctor
examined me for meniers and disregared it, i get no dizzy spells thank
god. Take care.. I know my spelling & grammar is very bad now I just
had a dosage of XANAX cause I had a very bad morning today, we all now
what I am talking about. Take care.

I think you are going through what I did about a year and half ago.
Now, I am enjoying silence most of the time.

***I did experience more tinniuts by taking some kind of BP medicine.
YOu may want to talk to your doctor about it.  I am currently taking a
combination of calcium channel blocker and ACE inhibitor.  YOu may want
to change to that.
***Visit a chiro weekly and see if you could have your spine relaxed.
***Try a certified acupuncturist and see if it helps after 2 times.
***Regardless of the cause, it still takes time for your
ill to heal. So more exercise and more overall body relaxation will
help.

Don't take Xanex, it is highly addictive.  I take Paxil for anxiety disorder
and it seems to help my tinnitus.  I have had it constantly for about 14
years.  I have learned to live a rather normal life and just ignore it most
of the time, although it never goes away.

Jim, what dosage do you take? Do you take it before bed?
I noticed that Paxil comes in a controlled release (CR) form.
   Are you familiar with that?

Does your BP med contain hydrochlorithiazide?  It gave me a living hell
before.
