Hi all, my ringing in my ears has progressively got worse other the
last 5years so I have seeked help from a Chinese Herb shop.  I have
just started my treatment of Er Long Zuo Ci and my first acupuncture
treament session will follow in the next few days.  I also feel alot of
pressure in my forehead on either sides and they say that this could be
due to the constant ringing!  I will keep you posted on my
experience...

One thing i find that helps at night is to listen to white noise on a
cd lopped.  This masks the tinnitus completely.

Wish me luck!

Hi Monk,

Acupuncture certainly seems to help some people. I guess it is because
of the relaxing effect.

Have you read this?

There may be a bit more than that.  I read that when a needle is
properly inserted, it can produce a chemical used to bandage the
wounded nerve.  Of course, various energy or meridian points produce
different kinds of chemical secretions.  How the Chinese managed to
find this out thousands of years ago is beyond the understanding of
many of us.

The reason why I am trying acupuncture is that I do at times feel
electrical current running in the head & down my spine  - I know this
could be stress or nerves but it is a strange feeling.   I read an
interesting article that radioactive tracers were injected into
acupuncture points in a living human body and a picture was taken with
a gamma camera.  The picture showed a mederian system or lines running
through the body similar to a computer circuit board.    I believe the
most important thing trying out this alternative healing is to find a
acupuncturist who knows what he is doing and is not one who learnt it
part-time in evening classes. The guy who will be treating me has been
doing this for 30years so i'm lead to believe.

White noise , I have tried natural sounds like waterstreams, beaches,
forests but things like wild birds singing & interferes with my sleep!
With white noise there is none of this but constant noise & I find it
quite easy to drift off to sleep.  These days it is hard to find white
noise on tvs or radios coz the digital tuners dont allow you to pick
them up.

Hi Monk,
Here is a page where you can download some free and trial
sound generators.

Whatever you try, give it no more than 3 times.  Move to another method
or doctor after the third time if it does not work.

Hi, I have had my first acupuncture treatment today. The Doctor
inserted needles in both feet, ankles, knees, hands & behind ears. I
felt a little tingle in certain places but quite a pleasant experience.
He left me for about 20mins or so before he removed the needles.
After wards he gave me a 5min massage around my Head, neck & neck.
After treatment I felt very tired - has anyone else experienced this?

To soon to advise if this has helped (tinnitus still alive) but have
another 2 sessions to go before I judge it!

One session a week is enough.  If you don't get any reaction after 2,
you perhaps may not want to go for the 3rd or want someone else.

Hi.I had 10 sessions of ...expensive!..acupuncture and unfortunately it
made no difference whatsoever for me..
fyfpoon@gmail.com - 04 Aug 2005 22:56 GMT
Try another one for TWO and see if it makes a difference.  If you
experience nothing after 2, forget it.  The cause can be somewhere else.

Good luck!

FWIW I've posted a .wav file of Violet Noise at www.detinnitiser.com
Forget all the other stuff there; just download this sound and play it in a
seamlessly repeating audio player, or dub it to a CD.   I find this sound
keeps me tinnitus-free overnight if I play it by the bed.  Violet noise (for
me) is more effective than white noise.
