Day 5 on cipro, woke up with my ears screaming! Stopped immediately.
Ironic, it came out of the blue. The last two days were really
good.... I just found out cipro is made of quinine. I can't believe
this is on no ototoxic lists!!!
Well, here's hoping and praying that it gets better...
Thanks,
Mike

Mike,
Cipro is a fluoroquinolone which is chemically different to
quinine. I've not heard of any adverse response of tinnitus w.
Cipro and has never (to my knowledge) been considered ototoxic.

So, that's why I went form 0db to 80db tinnitus in one week?
I honestly don't know what to do.. this is horrible!
Thanks,
Mike

Mike,
Anything ototoxic to me means permanent damage and Cipro is not
considered this.
Could Cipro have precipitated an adverse reaction w. you? Anything is
possible w. the
big "t". But as the other poster stated very well, try not to stress
out- it just makes it worse.
My tinnitus spikes can be caused by a sudden loud noise- the spikes
eventually goes down.

Mike, I first came to ast after a non-ototoxic antibiotic caused my T to
rise from a quiet, intermittent hiss to a roar.
In my case, it turned out to be a die-off reaction caused by
neuroborreliosis (late Lyme disease) infecting the CNS.
I stayed on the antibiotic, and within weeks, it was down to a quieter,
but still steady hiss, but unintrusive.

you are the only person that could pinpoint the cause-effect
relationship between t and various substances. what is may not be what
will be. but then again, you are the only person that could find out.

It may sound utterly unbelievable at this point in your Tee
journey, but - it *will* get better. Just make sure you don't schedule
any time lines else you'll set yourself up for disappointments. Keep
in mind that for most people getting over tinnitus is a process, not
an event. On the rough days keep telling yourself that tinnitus cannot
harm you. There is a tunnel and there is light at the end of it.
Wishing you smooth sailing,
Bart.

Just _what_ does the packaging inlay say about possible side effects?
Just _what_ did the prescribing medical professional decide to do when
confronted with the issue, my possibly incorrect understanding is that
another follow up antibiotics treatment should be intiated to avoid
leaving the most resistant part of the original infection as survivors
and thus promoting the spread of eventual resistance to the antibiotic
in question.
