I had been quite active on this newsgroup for a number of years, ran a
support group and all kinds of tinnitus related activities. Things got
kinda too much and two years ago this month I dropped out of sight,
totally disconnected myself from the wild and wonderful world of tee.
Then last week I heard this in a Star Trek Voyageur episode - the
character, Seven, in great discomfort because she could no longer hear
the voices in her head: "silence is unacceptable!"
It made me wonder, ponder, rethink or whatever. I also remember a
posting on this newsgroup a few days before I decided to quit my
involvement. A good friend, you know who you are, had written some
inspiring words about caring, Mother Theresa and stuff like that.
Can't remember the whole thing but it kept on popping up in my
thoughts regularly the last couple of years.
Over the years I've met a lot of great people on this newsgroup and I
must admit, I've missed being here. If nothing else, maybe it's like
the song goes: "sometimes you wanna go where everybody knows your
name..."
If you haven't come across them before, my articles on coping with
tinnitus are still posted on: http://www.haruteq.com/tin-02.htm - they
might give a bit of inspiration to some. I have also made myself
available again by reinstating the email link on my website in case
any of you wish to contact me.
At any rate, I'll check in from time to time again.
Bart.

Hiya Bart

Howarya?

I got out of the tinnitus scene too, although I still visit the off
topic forums occasionally.
Still haven't bought a banjo, tho I think I've gotten a little better
on the guitar recently, discovered a few new tricks.

My real email is 9@tonyjeffs.com

I'm gonna checkout your banjo site!
Take care
yours

Nice to hear from you Bart, your e mails helped many persons. And you
managed to survive the "ages of hostility".
There was a lot of good stuff on Star Trek. One of my favorits  was when the
"counselor" lost his ability to communicate by telepathy and voice, and had
to resort to actual person to person communication, had to adapt to working
with a handicap.
The other favorit was when the planets had solved the war problem by
sacrificing an equal percentage of their citizens to avoid the destruction
of war and brave captain Kirk showed them how to sit down and negotiate.
And today the only movies are remakes!
Bart V - 01 Jul 2005 02:54 GMT
Thanks for the kind word Murray.

>And you managed to survive the "ages of hostility"

Like yourself, I tried to stay clear of it as much I could and
it's real nice to see things have mellowed out for a change.

>There was a lot of good stuff on Star Trek

Yup, wasn't there and actually the Star Trek series (whichever
one you prefer) ought to rate quite high on the list of hi-power
coping strategies - they're on late at night for the folks who have
problems sleeping, something to help you float away in a fantasy.
Sure, some of the episodes are real sucky but closing your eyes and
continuing the story in your own mind's eye sure worked (and still
does) for me. Pretty much like active/lucid dreaming, guided imagery,
self hypnosis but of course, without the big price tags that usually
accompany those "disciplines."

Thanks for the welcome back and of course, to you too Tony and Elly
(just updated the link for you). By the way, in case you were
wondering, I'm quite fine thanks.

Bart.

Hi Bart! Hello you guys!
I too keep my visits to tinnitus groups at a minimum.
Really does keep the squeeks outta the ears now that I've habituated.
I have to say that out of all the usenet groups I've frequented over
the years
alt support tinnitus was the most helpful to myself and hundreds like
me.
That's because of people like you who are in this thread.

And of course the use of EERIE WAX and Bora Bora Juice.

Hey Murray, heard what happened to your Bora Bora Juice merger with
Pfizer. What the boys at Pfizer really wanted was to merge with the
Nubile Maidens who harvest the root.
Sorry bud.
Look, it's their loss...

Once the Pfizer people took an "interest" these arose a shortage of nubile
maidens. Bora Bora root doesn¹t work the same without their harvesting the
root in the moonlight.

Dr. Grossan:

You never did clarify for us how to measure NUBILITY ???
Most of the 'maidens' that Bruce has recruited on the streets
of Seattle just don't seem to have the touch.

When Bruce told them to "Get out there and hustle", most of
them got the wrong idea altogether, but we still had a profitable
day ... go figure !

You owe all of us money! I'm *still* awaiting my commission check

Jim:

OK, so our accounting department is a 'little' slow --
can't you guys take a joke ???  While you're waiting,
try a few belts of our new EERIE WAX GOLD with
that smooth 300 proof formula guaranteed to numb
anything.  It's absolutely antiseptic and Bruce will
personally assure satisfaction -- when he gets out
of the witness protection program -- but that's
another story...

You were right, Bob. This method was cheaper than filing Chapter 11.

We warned ya, Jim, to not raise your bet in that last hand you played
at 3:00AM at the 1999 EERIE WAX Annual Conference and Poker Game.
