The hearing in my right ear was lost to a virus in 1991. I have the ringing
and high pitched whine. I was able to handle it until I had a sinus
infection in early April 2005. Now the noise has increased dramatically. I
belong to a southern California hmo. I went to five doctors in three weeks.
I became very afraid of night time couldn't sleep, just listen to the roar
in my head, drove my wife nuts to see me. My fifth doctor did supply my with
meds to sleep. I am waiting to see what happens next.

Everybody's experience could be a bit different. So you went to 5
doctors. I went to 15!
If this 5th one does not help you, you may want to try the following:
(1)take a tablet of gingko biloba each morning for a couple of weeks
and see if it does anything for you. It did for me right away.
(2)go visit a chiro and get your spine relaxed.
(3)lower your pillow when you sleep.
(4)talk to your doctor about using one tablet of Betahistine AFTER
dinner. It is a very good medicine and non-addictive.
Start something simple first. If a doctor wanted to get you into
addictive drugs such as Ativan, ask him if he could get you out later
on. OK? Stemitude (mis-spelt) once helped me. Talk to your doctor
about that.

Try two meds: klonopin and neurontin. I am having some success as well
with accupuncture. Good luck
