is that possible or did my doctor misdiagose me?

just curious...i would think you'd have it in BOTH ears

maybe i've got something else?

It is quite possible and also quite common for T to start in one ear.
Mine started off in my right ear.

Tinnitus is a symptom, typically of some change that has occurred in your
inner ear and your brain's reaction to that change. Your doctor diagnosed
tinnitus in one ear because you told him/her that you only heard the
tinnitus in one ear. There is no objective way to determine where you hear
the tinnitus, only your report to your doctor.

My ringing likes to alternate. Right now, as I type this, only my left
ear is experiencing slight ringing. When My T was at its worst, it was
my right ear that was ringing the loudest. Back and forth, left and or
right, comes and goes, pretty typical from what I've learned about
tinnitus so far.

It started on one ear in my case and then it went left and right.
After the acupuncture treatment, the left and right movement was
curtailed immensely.

I've never been to a doctor about it (pretty sure it was caused by my
own stupidity and a very loud speaker), but my T is in only my left ear.
I get very occassional ringing in my right, but that's very rare.

I have had the same problem for years, the left ear only.
Lots of luck.

I only have it in my left ear too. Have you tried anything that helped,
yet? Mine seems to be getting worse as I get older.
