If there was a definite cure for tinnitus we would have known by now.
If Rogaine was a possible way to go we would have known by now.
Tinnitus is most likely caused by extreme tension in the neck and
shoulder muscles - even if you can't feel it, it will be there.

Bob, most researchers feel that damage to hair cells in the inner
ear plays a key role in the development of tinnitus, perhaps most
tinnitus. But the cells are called "hair" cells only because they
have tiny protrusions from them that are relatively thin and
long--resembling the shape of hair. They actually have nothing to
do with hair.
Researchers are studying ways to cause the hair cells to regrow.
It is not known if success in that will cure tinnitus, but it is
possible that it would in many cases.

Jim - Thanks for the information, but don't tell the researchers what

There isn't that much research being done, is there? What has been done
seems to entail swallowing awful drugs with awful side-effects. At least
Elly's theory is reasonable and massage virtually harmless, so one would
finish up more relaxed, even if one still had the tinnitus! Personally, I
don't think there ever will be one cure. There seem to be so many different
causes and so many different noises etc,. that I can't imagine one single
thing curing all. In fact, I haven't much hope for any "cure" because they
have virtually no idea what it is, or where it comes from.

(1)Kindly substantiate your statement with a link or some documented
evidence so that I would be convinced that enough statistic work has
been done on this subject.
(2)Could these 'hair cells' ever recover on their own?
Tks.,

Trust me, Francis, I have a PhD.

Jim, many people have ph.d in this world. The unfortunate thing is:
even ph.ds have diverse views on the same subject.

It was a joke, Francis.

Francis,
I'm presently involved with research as to whether or not Guinness Beer
will put hair on your cells. I'm using double blind testing as I find
I'm that way after about 8 beers. I don't have a PhD in any medically
related field, therefore I know I can count on your blessing and
support for the results and conclusions.
