Hello,

I?ve heard the expression "White Noise" as something that should bring
relief to Tinnitus-offers.

What is it?

Does it really help?

Is it a little microphone or speaker you can place in the ear?
If "yes" to the above - will it then send out a similar tone which will
reduce the unbearable tinnitus-sound?

The reason why I?ve been wondering about it is because everytime I shave or
taking a shower the tinnitus-sound sort of "disappear" or "fade away" if you
know what I mean?
- If that feeling could remain it would be fantastic!!!

Any comments?

Greetings,
Anders

If you want white noise on you pc, try to download serenesound.

If you want white noise in your bedroom, just use a radio with FM sound
between two             stations. If you do not want to disturb your wife,
use small earphones.

Hi Anders,

Read all about white noise here:
http://home.howstuffworks.com/question47.htm

For me, I prefer intelligent sound (the news, for example) to white noise.
Intelligent sounds draw my attention away from my tinnitus.  When I'm
otherwise distracted, I don't hear it.

Anders,  in my experience fairly quiet white noise (actually 'blue' noise -
ie. white noise with the lower frequencies filtered out) can help greatly in
the toleration of tinnitus.  You can read about my experiments in related
fields at www.detinnitiser.com
