Hey all,
My tinnitus, which I'm convinced came about as the result of high frequency
damage to my inner ear, has been rather loud and incessant for nearly 2
years. I've been habituating it over time and while it's still somewhat of
a distraction, I find it less annoying as time progresses and hope that this
trend will continue.
To this end, I have a question: I enjoy playing the guitar and in deference
to my T, have been playing accoustic guitar. I've been thinking that I'd
really like to get back into playing electric guitar, but have been
wondering whether this is a good idea. Are there any guitarists or
musicians out there who can advise as to whether this is advisable and if
so, what precautions I might take?
Thanks all,
GW

Hey, I am the same way, im unsure of getting back to electric guitar and
drums etc. i think the only way to do it is if you wear earplugs. perhaps
the moulded musicians ones made for your ear. i have some of them and they
cut out 25 db but i think i have to get them remoulded to my ear. the
balance is a bit weird but it could just be my ears too. So try the foam
earplugs around amps and drums. see how you go
if its painful and you get more ringing then i guess accoustic is the way.
