I went to the dentist last week for a filling and had lignocaine injected
into the gum. After 15 minutes what wonderful, velvet silence !  My hearing
was sharp too - I could have heard a pin drop in that surgery.

These days my tinnitus is doesn't bother me too much. But this demonstrated
to me how the habituation process must have taken the 'edge' off my hearing.

Why can't Lignocaine be put in a slow-release pill ?

The lidocaine paralysed the muscles. This eased the tinnitus.
Lidocaine cannot be taken orally as the digestion process interferes
with it.

How about easing the muscle tension?
