Hey, I have been reading this group for a while now but never posted but i
guess now is a good time.
I've had ringing ears for over a year nonstop. I used to play in rock bands
for a few years and didnt wear earplugs a lot of the time (stupid i know but
no one else did or even suggested it until a few years later thats when i
started wearing them but it feels too late) but i also have had a lymph node
at the front of my right ear just on my face for perhaps a year or 2.
I went to the specialist for the node and he said it was nothing and its
just gonna stay there, but it is kind of awkward and feels like it presses
onto my ear and gives my right ear a different feeling like more full or
pressured, and changes the sound.
I get headaches often from it, and i am waiting for my appointment with the
ENT specialist. Im not sure if i believe that the node is nothing, as when i
wear my molded earplugs it has different sound quality that i hear from
right to left (more blocked in the right), if i pull the node away from the
ear then the sound has less sort of pressure, but when i let go, the
pressure returns.
Im not sure what to do about the ringing, ive tried to get used to it but a
lot of the time im just too depressed to do anything and my girlfriend even
has left temporarily because i just cant physically get to sleep at night
because of it. I just wait till im so tired i pass out.
I've got no idea what to do. its made me want to leap from a roof or
anything to escape my head.
:(
sorry if its too much to read.

You need to see a doctor for treatment of the depression and the sleep
disturbance. Then you can try some things to help with the tinnitus.

From what little I know about depression, the situational variety is
remarkably different from the clinical variety. Most folks experience
situational depression from time-to-time, especially after the loss of a
loved one. When situational depression arises out of the onset of tinnitus
we can help with the good news that most folks can learn to ignore the sound
to such an extent that it is no longer a factor in their lives.

Let me amend my advice:

I guess what i was saying is that depression, even reactive depression, along
with sleep deprivation can be a serious problem and really needs to be
addressed by a medically trained clinician. The tinnitus will probably come in
time not to be the big deal it is now. But you have to get through the
depression and sleeplessness bit in order to get to the light at the end of
the tunnel.
