Simon Brightwell - 16 Nov 2004 20:47 GMT How long should I give GB a chance before I make a conclusion about its effects on my T?? Days, weeks, months or even years?
Thanks, Simon
Jennifer Bell - 17 Nov 2004 01:59 GMT my naturopath told me to give it atleast 6 weeks. Simon Brightwell wrote in message <419a6754$0$46399$cd19a363@news.euronet.nl>...

Days, weeks, months or even years? I experienced after a couple of days. My suggestion to you is as follows: (1)get the GB made of leaf but not extract. (2)if you felt comfortable with it after taking it, then stay on it for a long while(at least 3 months). After all, it helps your blood circulation which might in turn help other things.

Whatever information in this ng has to be discussed with the doc first. That seems something you forget.

I discussed this conversation about Ginko Biloba with my doctor. He has forbidden me to take it. He says it causes internal bleeding in the body and brain, and is a definite risk for stroke. The combination of aspirin and ginko is especially dangerous. This scientist knows a lot more about blood thinners than I do, and I'll take his advice. When I read your advice to add aspirin to ginko in combination I felt a chill. People will die taking this advice.

Perhaps you should see 16 doctors about this sudden attack of Munchaussen Syndrome.

Do you have one? =====================

Two of my doctors said it is safe but i have reservation about these two _licensed_ answers. Thus I had to go back to re-negotiate with one of them and he finally agreed that I stop taking adult aspirin while taking on gingko biloba.
My second question is: could an amount of 500 mg gingko biloba dried leaf be sufficient to prevent stroke like a tablet of adult aspirin?
Thank you in advance for your viewS.

You were taking aspirin and ginko biloba at the same time, and your doctors were equivocal. This means to me you were ill-informed and so were your doctors.
Watch your language, Francis. This is a polite group.

Please let me get clear on this one. Are you suggesting that we should NOT take 2 together? I have always operating on the assumption that the thinner the blood, the less likely is a stroke going to occur. Is that true?

Could you show us the link to these liternatures?
I went to a large hospital specifically for this question. The doctor told me that in her 'experience' for the past many years, patients that are on both do not show any more bleeding than just one. But then again, it depends on the amount a patient takes of either.

The final answer regarding taking gingko and adult aspirin together from my Cambridge doctor is that: yes, you can take both of them on the same day as long as (1)the gingko is less than 120 mg in terms of extract(or 500 mg of dried leaf) AND (2)the coated aspirin less than 50 mg.
If anyone has better answers than this one, by all means raise it.

There is a difference between 'recommending' and being 'ill-informed'.

> Best wishes, > [quoted text clipped - 5 lines] > > > >>me a few friends. ENTconsult - 20 Nov 2004 22:32 GMT Let's put Gingko in perspective. Many many people take it for years without problems. It does reduce clotting. My objection is that for the risk involved, and for the evidence presented for curing T, I think the negatives outweigh the positives. there are many good products out there. When they are without prescription there is a tendency to take more than the recommended dose. this is what happened to Dexatrim - a really excellent nasal medication when persons took 2- 3 x recommended dose. the other problem I have with Gingko is lack of standardization of the dosage and content. But again, many person do take this without problems. Murray Grossan, M.D. http://www.ent-consult.com
