But, the splint will not help your T. They are, by design, made to eliminate the tention (caused by bruxism....i.e. grinding your teeth) in the TMJ area. If it has stopped your ability to make your jaw 'pop' in just this short period of time, that is wonderful. The popping noise you refer to is actually the TMJ (ball and socket) being displaced...it CAN remain in that position and requires someone, usually a dentist, to slide it back into its normal position. Don't keep 'trying' to make it 'pop' out like that. *´¨) . ·´ ¸.·*¨) ¸.·*¨) ¸.·*¨) (¸.·´ (¸.*´ ¸.·´ `·-* * Patty * `·-*

They are made to stop the teeth toiuching together. They may or may not eliminate any tension.

Patty - 02 Nov 2004 21:11 GMT I suppose my 20 years in dentistry doesn't qualify me to know anything at all about bruxism, TMJ, bite splints aka night guards, teeth touching (occlusion), cross bites, over bite, over jet, over closed (from bruxism), mouth breathers, tongue thrusting...etc. Go for it Elly.

Ask Assar Bjorne. He is a dentist who has been treating tinnitus patients successfully for over 10 years.

Try... (1)sleeping without a pillow (2)take a tablet of gingko biloba. Go to a doctor who has the experience of prescribing gingko so that you could get some reinforcement. Never mind the 'studies' cited around here.

Was the T measured before and after? Was there an audiogram? How was the T defined? Was there some sort of quetionaire before and after?

dpark411@sbcglobal.net - 11 Nov 2004 21:28 GMT HI, love this group. I am a male age 75, live in Texas, have had tinnitis for last few years and tried to ignore it but once in a while It hits hard. This morning I was awakened about 3 AM with a very loud high pitched whistle in my ears. I have not been exposed to any loud noise and am not aware of any infections. Teeth are in good shape. (all original).Am over weight, 6' 0", weigh 244. This mornings loud whistle was new to me. VERY strong and loud. I take one aspirin each night. I am diabetic II. blood sugar was 146. Felt great otherwise. I do have some diziniess with regular (to me) tinnitis. I did eat two bowls of homemade chili last niglht. Nothing else changed. Could this unusual loud tinnitis be cause by this great chili or other alergy. Any help would be great. My regular doctor knows little about tinitus. How can I find a good doctor that can help me. Thank you so much for any help . Dp

With diabetes type II and morbid obesity, the chance of a stroke is pretty high. I myself would focus as hard as I could on combatting the obesity and diabetes. An audiologist or ENT who is knowledgeable about tinnitus may be able to offer some help in adjusting to it or in reducing its impact.
Most of us have probably benefitted from avoiding very quiet surroundings, including using a fan or other sound source at night while sleeping.

ENTconsult - 12 Nov 2004 16:50 GMT the salt in the Chilli can be a cause for your symtoms. Try salt free high potassium diet.. Murray Grossan, M.D. http://www.ent-consult.com
Susan - 12 Nov 2004 17:09 GMT >the salt in the Chilli can be a cause for your symtoms. Try salt free high >potassium diet.. For me, it's the tomatoes. Salicylate content. Happens with pureed cauliflower, too.

Elly Byrne - 12 Nov 2004 19:28 GMT Have you looked at the muscle tension page? http://eebee.net/TinnitusIsaPainintheNeck.shtml
What happened during the night is most likely the result of tension that has been building up in the body for years.
